bumping this threat in the hopes some has been able to get an m.2 cards to work with Asus z9pe-d8 motherboards or have a modified bios I can try.

I'm trying with samsung evo 960 cards, the board does not see them in the bios so I cannot install the OS onto them.
However windows does see the boards once the operating system has been installed on another drive.

Here is the bios ver 5802 from Asus

Your mod bios done.

Note:
[*]After you flash mod bios, then you can insert the NVMe SSD resp. its M.2>PCIe adapter into the M.2 port resp. PCIe slot, which offers the best possible performance and doesn't share the PCI lanes with other devices (please look into your mainboard manual).
[*]Important:

  • The "BOOT" section of the UEFI BIOS and the shortcut to the "Bootable Devices" will not show the NVMe SSD, although it may be bootable!
  • After having installed the NVMe supporting OS in UEFI mode onto the PCIe/M.2 connected SSD, you will see the new bootable system drive listed as "Windows Boot Manager".

Hi,

did the bios mod work on the asus z9pe-d8-ws? Is this board now able to boot an m2 via pcie? I got a Samsung nvme 960 evo and I've tried to mod the bios on my own, but without success so far.
Is there any way to re-upload the bios mod again?

Kind regards,
Ron

Use ordinary Asus flashing procedure, exactly the same as with ordinary Asus bios.

Dear @feluchi

Trying flash this bios using ASUS EZ Flash2 Ultility v01.04 (Flashing tool interagted with the origin 5802 bios). There is an error "Security verification failed".

Do we have any work around for this?

Many Thanks.

Well, this means that Asus use some safeguard in this bios version. In that case we need to cut capsule header, and then flash mod bios with hardware SPI programmer device.

Dear all,

I would like to confirm Z9PED8WS is OK for NVME.

All stuffs can be find here: using CH341A USB flasher for backup origin BIOS (save as .bin file), then using CodeRush's UEFITool v0.21.5 for insert the
uncompressed NvmExpressDxE_3 module. Verify then flash to the Winbon W25Q64BVAIG.

https://www.fshare.vn/folder/4R8IK4K7Y37G

Thanks guys for sharing all needed information.
