REQUEST: Please help! HP G62-b17SA
#1
Ladies and gents - I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to upgrade the HDD on a friends computer to an SSD. It's an HP G62-b17SA (Product #: XF332EA#ABU) in the UK. I'm currently trying a Samsung Evo 840 series 120GB, and although the BIOS recognises that it's there, and the windows installation loads, as soon as the machine restarts, I get the Error Code: 0xc00000e9 if installing Win 8, or the 'Insert repair disc' if it's Windows 7. I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing has worked. I've tested the RAM, I've put the old HDD in (works fine), upgraded the BIOS but it's absolutely not having it!
I've looked on Microsoft, HP and the Samsung sites, but all everyone talks about that I've not done (because I'm unable!) is switching (if possible) the AHCI/IDE/SATA settings Dodgy
Would there be any chance of a kind soul out there bailing me out of 3 days of banging my head against a wall and tweaking the BIOS for me? Rest assured, if I could, I would!
The URL for the BIOS version I have installed at the moment
I'm currently using version: 2012-01-06 , Version F.2B (3.94MB) the URL for which is here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...5312#N1192

Machine specs are as follows:

Notebook Model: HP G62-b17SA
Product number: XF332EA#ABU
System board ID: 143B
Processor AMD Turion II P450 Dual Core 2.4Ghz
RAM 4096MB of SAMSUNG
Bios vendor: Insyde

If there is any information that's needed or I've made a schoolboy error and left something off, then I apologise - it's most likely due to the fact I've gone screen blind and braindead.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this! I hope someone can dig me out of a hole!!

Kind regards,

Jamie

Angel

PS - I tried the diskpart to wipe the MBR using the instructions below!

1.Boot up Windows 7 disc.
2.When the welcome screen comes up on Windows Setup, press Shift + F10, which will display a command prompt.
3.Type "diskpart" (no quotes) and press enter.
4.Type "list disk" and press enter.
5.Hopefully you can see your SSD in the list. You should see a number identifying it. Now type "select disk X" (where X is the number identifying your SSD) and press enter.
6.Type "clean" and press enter. This will write a blank MBR, YOU WILL LOSE ANY DATA ON THE SSD if you did have anything on it.
