[REQUEST] ACER V7-482PG-6662 - BIOS Advanced Menu
#21
Oh, I opened the original ZRQ_225.exe file that extracts and opens into the Insyde flash program.

Anyways, I'm stumped at the moment. I believe we are doing everything right. I have tried flashing in legacy mode, UEFI mode, SecureBoot on and off, etc. I bought a new Lexar USB drive to test, and it also didn't work.

Do you think it's possible to inject the modded BIOS into the Insyde flash program or maybe flash the modded BIOS in DOS?

I will be patiently waiting for any updates, thank you.

EDIT: Could I use the FWUpdLcl.exe to flash the modded BIOS? The only problem I have run into is it cannot identify platform.. I will try again in Command Prompt via Windows 8 Recovery.

EDIT2: If I place the ZRQ.FD file into the same directory as Insyde flash and run InsydeFlash.exe, it says "The image to be updated is not a secure BIOS."

EDIT3: I tried to use this guide to flash the FD file, but I got platform unsupported when I ran FWUpdLCL in DOS - biosrepo.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/how-to-flash-unsupported-motherboards-via-ftk-and-dos/

EDIT4: Could this post's tools be used to flash the modded BIOS? - http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...post869770

EDIT5: I went into legacy mode, and used flashit v1.5f to backup my BIOS. It gave me a 1MB file - http://www.sendspace.com/file/pntt27

EDIT6: I believe my computer is failing to access recovery mode. I noticed that when my USB drive is being read, my mouse also lights up, but when the USB drive has no action, my mouse doesn't light up.

I believe the 582PG has a different standardized BIOS. But judging from 482PG, you will have same problems as I.

Ok unpuck this tool :
http://rghost.net/52673110

by 7vZip "TESTBACK.exe" You will find a folder into "9.5.14.1724" copy it to desktop and rename as FPT and open it !
Then open a CLI command prompt as Administrator rights and look o this new window c:\users\yourname\
Now You have to run this command to set new path :
c:\\users\yourname\ cd desktop\FPT enter
You are in that directory so can run FPT from there.
You have two FPT 1st is w = 32bit 2nd w64 = 64bit !
command to run are FPTw -d biosbackup.bin enter (for all eeprom)
command to run are FPTw -d biosbackup.bin -bios enter (for region bios eeprom)

If You get an error try the same commands as 64bt
command to run are FPTw64 -d biosbackup.bin enter (for all eeprom)
command to run are FPTw64 -d biosbackup.bin -bios enter (for region bios eprom)
And look if can get this backups, they will be in FPT folder, then upload them to me !

Then do the same thing with 8.1. . .

And let me know

Hi,

When I try to use 8.1.10.1286, I get the "[FPTw.exe] cannot be run on the current platform". I believe it's due to my chipset and processor being newer than the tool itself (my laptop uses a Haswell i5-4200U).

But when I use 9.5.14.1724:

fptw -d biosbackup.bin enter
= Error 26: The host CPU does not have read access to the target flash area. To enable read access for this operation you must modify the descriptor settings to give host access to this region

fptw -d biosbackup.bin -bios
= FTP operation passed

I have attached both region BIOS EEPROM made with fptw and fptw64 in the following sendspace link - http://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/zWz5%...3NgX%2Bnrg

Thank you kindly.

To only Berniebennybernard !!!!

Your biosbackup modded here You have to copy it in FPT folder :

http://rghost.net/52678088

Now to flash from Windows (CLI Administrator rights) or Dos is the same :
FPTw -f biosbackup.bin -bios

From Dos i safest, but many guys run it from Windows.

Let me know

Hi BDMaster,

It gave me an error: "Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space"

Do you have the FPT for DOS? Maybe I will try there, but I am not hopeful.

Thanks.

You are out of luck !
I have to mod some things in bios and in FPT, now I will look how to do.
I'll post here later a bios mod and a new FPT folder.
