I have modded the image that you have uploaded the same as 1234s282 did. Please flash using the update procedure found in the BIOS Upgrades section of the site and report back Smile

sorry to bump this old thread, but it relates to my issue.

I tried this modified bios on my Gateway DX4831. After flashing upon first power on, it shows the make as "Acer" with the company logo underneath. It goes into bootup mode and I can enter the bios. Upon entering the bios I see the added overclocking features, but the ability to edit the BCLK is not there.

It shows the BCLK (it's grey'ed out) in the top with other summary information (CPU multiplier, BCLK, etc)..

The first adjustable setting is the CPU multiplier which you can change (from 9-22) so obviously you'd want it at the default 22... but with no ability to adjust the BCLK (FSB) it's in essence useless for overclocking..

The other settings like turbo mode, etc. ARE adjustable.. Is there no way to edit/adjust the BCLK in this settings window?

Thanks!

my Gateway DX4831-01E Shows Up In The BIOS As "Acer Aspire M5811" i want to edit the model string so that the driver update tool that came with my computer will get the right drivers

can you guys change that?

and it is dangerous to edit the model string?

the BIOS you guys modded for me are located here

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/Gateway%2...34s282.zip

and while your at it could you make sure it supports all intel i5 and i7 cpus?

thanks

Whoah! hang on a minute Tongue I think i5 and i7 support is unlikely because the chips use a completely different socket (LGA1156) instead of the older LGA775 that Core 2 CPU's take. What CPU is currently in the machine?

And yes editing the model number is very dangerous , your taking the risk of reflashing the bios just to get the right drivers? Always get them direct from the hardware manufacturer because this ensures you have the latest. If your missing a few use Device Doctor.

Oh right well perhaps it might be possible Tongue Never say definately! I thought your system was older than it is!

Gateway has no official bios download for this model but fortunately i have a backup!

Will see what i can do!
