Dell OptiPlex GX240
#1
BIOS image (extracted from Dell DOS only EXE): https://www.sendspace.com/file/67y4ip
RW-Everything report: https://www.sendspace.com/file/ja4z4a

Just need this to have Dell SLIC2.1 added. Have tried on my own but just can't get the process to work. I have a way of flashing the HDR file so I don't need this packaged back into a .EXE, just need the SLIC properly inserted.

Also, I know that one popular tool complains about the RW-Everything report but I have created it several times, exactly following the instructions - even tried different versions of RW-Everything and it seems to make no difference.

Here is the output from my last attempt:

Here is the report you asked for: https://www.sendspace.com/file/9cpcdf

I have since made further progress. First off, the tool I was using was version 1.42. This tool does not like Windows 7. I was able to get around the error with compression by running the tool in a clean, updated Windows XP VM. Also, apparently the version I was using is sorely outdated. I tried again with version 2.56 and it decided that it liked the RW-Everything report much better. Here is the outcome of that run:

SLIC performed successfully. BIOS file is C:\BIOS\GX240A05_SLIC.HDR

This gave me a new file to play with: https://www.sendspace.com/file/dmvpeo [GX240A05_SLIC.HDR].

Sadly, when I try to flash that using my update utility, it fails and the message I get when I check the status is this "Completion Message: The image failed one or more consistency checks."

So something is still not quite right with things. I would look for an alternate tool to flash the BIOS but I suspect I would just end up with a brick, so I'll hold off for a bit.

Also, not sure if it will help - it appeared the tool you had me run was trying to gather more information on the BIOS in question, here is a file that is an attempt I made to backup the existing system BIOS, just in case it may be of use: https://www.sendspace.com/file/3dyotr

Thanks for your help so far! Smile

Never mind - success! It appears that the method I was using to flash was suspect. I managed a successful injection. Here is the BIOS update file in .EXE format for anyone else that needs it. Should run find under Windows 7 Smile

(file is actually a 7-Zip archive, rename from .txt to .7z to extract)
