BIOS MOD FOR DELL N7110 UNLOCKED UEFI BOOT
#51
Just wondering if it's possible to get this BIOS to do Wake-on-Lan?  I was thinking of re-purposing it for Nextcloud and Syncthing, soit would just sit in my wiring closet with a couple drives attached.  Problem would be if there were a power outage, ad the system wouldn't come back up afterwards even with a power adapter attached.

EDIT: as an alternative, perhaps a way to set it to automatically boot on AC Power.

Hi .Nice work and millon thanks to share your result with us.

Well. this was excellent surprise, didn't even know that you released this one month ago. Now I can finally format to GPT and use UEFI.

Am I right about GPT ?

Hello to all forum, I followed the instructions and flashed the bios on N7110 with no problem at all.
My OS was Win10 pro with MBR and checked all the Fn+ f2, f3... buttons and everything was ok.
Then I converted my disk to GPT and boot from uefi and again checked everything and was fine until I discovered that when I pressed Fn with any of F1, F2... all the system frose. I made some tests changing things at bios but everytime the system frose and I had to push the power button to shut it.
If never puss the combinations of Fn + f2, f3... the laptop was working perfectly.
Then I read on the forum that maybe the DELL software "quickset" gives me the problem so, I made a clean installation (uefi - gpt) with no quickset of course.
During the first installation I had the inspiration to push the fn+f2 (before complete installation) and laptop froze again, so it is not a software installed on the windows.
The second time I finished the installation an then I boot fn+f... and froze again.
I decided to convert it back to MBR and the problem dissapeard. All Fn + f... worked fine again.
I think something is with the system files??? It doesn't like the GPT and of course there is no need to flash it.
The case is not if Fn+f... are usefull and someone use them but, if by accident, you push the combination, everything freezes and you will lose evrything you do, because you MUST shut it down by button.
I hope I helped you and If there is any fix, it will be very nice otherwise I think there is no reason to go to GPT.
Thank you.

Any chance for an update? There is a recent update from Dell for N7110 that is much more stable with USB.

Do not recommed this bios. I ve installed it and hav a problem with pcie and my dedicated card (gt525m). The device manager didnt show it what is more the cpu got some strange temperature reaching 70 degres while browsing internet.

After switching back to factory bios, everything went back to normal and dedicated video card works.
