Compaq Presario M2202AP Turion ML cpu upgrade
#1
I have a Compaq Presario M2202AP laptop with BIOS F.52. Would like to upgrade the laptop cpu from mobile Sempron 1800+ to Turion ML-42. Wonder the existing Bios F.52 include the Turion ML-42 cpu microcode or NOT.
Can someone help to verify.
Thanks in advance.

Can't attached the BIOS file in here. But I can email u if you send the email address.

Hi DeathBringer,

Thank you for your quick reply.
Yes, exactly the manual said it support Turion 64 ML cpu, so I want to upgrade to the faster cpu.
Turion ML-42 spec same as ML-34 and only difference is with higher speed 2.4G instead of 1.8G.
I just not sure my existing Bios F.52 including the ML-42 microcode. If u can help to check whether the Bios F.52 can support (included ML-42 microcode) the Turion ML-42, I will buy the ML-42 and go ahead to do the upgrade.

If the bios F.52 not include the ML-42 microcode, can u add the microcode that is mod the bios .
I am on the mobile sempron 3000+ now. I will post the screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z. later tonight when at home.

Highly appreciate your help.

Hi DeathBringer,

From this forum, I saw one thread mentioned he had upgraded to ML-40 with the bios F.27 also on the same motherboard. Quanta 3091 is the same one in my Presario M2000. Hope this can give more info.

Thanks.

In your BIOS I see only microcodes for CPUID: F48, F4A, F50. It's for old Mobile Athlon 64 only. So I think that no microcodes are needed.
And you can use any AMD Mobile Turion 64 for Socket 754. I advise to use ones with 1 MB of L2 cache. ML-42 has only 512 KB.
