[REQUEST] Lenovo G710 BIOS Whitelist Removal
#11
in the "removed" Whitelist only 1 WLAN card added or some other they should work?

if other Cards should work, i must buy a "compatible adapter" for this Laptop.

Work for any card.

Edit:

So I've done quite a bit of research and testing (including patching my own bios) but it won't let me re-flash the bios due to the PRR being secured.

I've tried the PRR and PRR2 both with no success.

PRR2 shows 2 protected ranges:

0x500000 - 0x5fffff
0x2ce000 - 0x4a1fff

And concludes "Flash protection could not be removed" thus disabling re-flashing the bios at all.

Does anyone have an older bios file that may not have the protection enabled on it?

Hi Guys,

I was looking into removing the whitelist myself, but got a bit lost with all the information at hand and what to look for exactly and editing the file.
I read that Badfly could not disable secure boot, for me it is possible, if you guys want to give it a try let me know would be appreciated.

Vendor: Lenovo
Model: G710
BIOS ver: 8ECN21WW
EC ver: 8EEC13WW

Bios settings:

BIOS Back Flash - Enabled

Secure Boot - Disabled
Secure Boot Status - Disabled
Platform Mode - Standard
Secure Boot Mode - Standard

Boot Mode - UEFI (do I need to change this to Legacy?)

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_061117AA&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_061117AA
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_0280

No BIOS file available from Lenovo backed up with backup tool.
Lenovo G710 bk Bios file

Hope you guys are willing to see if it will work with secure boot disabled, other thing i noticed is that using the backup tool it said for "Type: Others BIOS/ACPI 2.0", not sure if this matters anything, the BIOS is InsydeH2O.
If you need more information please let me know, or if you have quick easy steps how to do it and what to look for I don't mind doing it myself.

Kind regards,

John

I posted in another thread but figured maybe it was better to start my own thread. Apparently in the other thread secure boot could not be disabled, for me it is possible, if you guys want to give it a try let me know would be appreciated.

AutoMod (thanks to all modders and to CodeRush an extra)

Using CodeRush Tool UEFIPatch + Patches.txt, We can do the Mod by ourself, in any time and wherever We are !!!

Just use the right Patches.txt for the own Bios Version, so for your Bios use this one !!!

How to use ?
It's easy, just do a biosbackup.bin file and drag&drop on UEFIPatch.exe (the Patches.txt file has to be togheter at tool)
It will reply with a file patched, then rename that file as bios.bin, put It into modified folder where are all rest tools
to re-flash the Bios Mod and copy all files from modified folder to an USB Dos Formatted Bootable Stick and Boot from USB !
Then, reboot the laptop and at CLI Prompt Comand run flash.bat That's It all !

CodeRush Tool (above)

Modified folder with all tools to re-flash Bios Mod from USB, follow instructions (above)

Update from pure DOS with USB-bootable stick (You can use Rufus also)
See how to make one here:

http://www.howtogeek.com/136987/how-to-c...usb-drive/

https://rufus.ie/

Copy the "Modified" folder contents into the stick and boot in DOS mode and
Run Flash.bat to update.

Don't touch Video Settings or Disable Video Card It will Brick laptop !!!

Please post results.
This mod for your PC only!!!

I hope It will become the New Mod Way !!!

Here Patches from 21 to 94 (above)

Thanks for the effort, unfortunately it gives the error 28.
I can try with flash2, I ran prr.exe and it said ready to flash but unfortunately still got the error 28.
Hopefully it works with flash2, but I can only hope Sad

Again appreciate all the effort in helping me.
