Bios mod request for American Megatrends Inc. P01-A3
#1

Basically you all know why i'm here, lol. I'm looking to unlock the full power of my ram.  Big Grin

Yes I have an OEM Gateway computer.
Yes I understand they don't allow overclocking by default because it voids the warranty, and they don't want a bunch of warranty claims.
Yes I understand the risk and possibly bricking the computer.

With that being said I still would like to move forward and tap into the full potential of this ram or atleast give it a slight boost using the default XMP profile for "safe" overclocking. In order to do that I apparently have to overclock from the bios, and In order to overclock from bios my bios has to be flashed to a version that allows overclocking. I believe this is the only way I can do this. This is something I want to do before I spend a bunch of money purchasing a completely new ASUS motherboard and computer tower.

And with that being said here are my computer specs:

-----------------------
Windows 7 (6.1) Home Premium Edition 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600

------------------------

So how I was planning on going about this originally was to 1st to backup my current bios of course. To do that, I was going to follow this tutorial I found on youtube here:

Then next I was going to find the modded version for the bios I have now, and then of course proceed with flashing my bios following another tutorial. I found this bios rom online: Asus bios. It appears to be a bios for overclocking an ASUS nvidia graphics card which I actually have. Now I believe I actually can currently overclock my graphics card from my desktop without modding or updating the bios with the app that came with my graphics card. However I figured if I used this bios that it would allow me to overclock other things like the ram maybe?  Blush  However, that's why I am here. To find the best bios that will allow me to overclock for my computer. I actually came here from another forum where a user with a similar setup to mine has apparently accomplished this goal and referred to you all. Since this website is called "bios-mods" I figured this is what you guys specialize in.

I have pretty much maxed out my computer in upgrades for the most part (At least how I want it). This is pretty much my last step. I even managed to install a 3TB drive to my OEM computer. After installing it successfully there is a minor shutdown issue where the computer doesn't turn off fully, however I believe this might be another bios issue *cough*, such as how the voltage is distributed maybe? In any case, I know there's plenty of things that can be done to a computer to make it better to the point where it's limitless almost. However I am basically at that point with this particular build where the limit is reached, and I just want to tap into that hidden potential. Might not be the most powerful computer but for my needs it will suffice if I can do this last thing probably.

So here is my request; Can you all create or provide a link to a modded or unlocked bios that will allow my OEM computer to be overclock? Even if you all have to create it from scratch I will wait for it and appreciate it. Also can you provide the appropriate steps of how to apply this bios?

Again I am aware of the risk and how "It's not allowed" by default. However I still would like to try it. I don't plan on going into my bios everyday per say, however if done successfully I might be able to overclock my ram and maybe even fix that minor power issue after I installed my 3tb hard drive. Who knows? (You guys I assume Wink ) Just give me some good news on this topic and not the politically correct "It's impossible" jargon.

I also have a American megatrends bios for my gaming cyberpower laptop. For a gaming laptop I dosent have many options, even a simple way to switch the fn key function. No I've clock or video card switching. If mods for this bios is available I will provide more information. I actually open a thread already but I'm not sure this part of the thread is managed much.
