[REQUEST] Lenovo Z510 Bios Password Reset
#1
Hi,
I want to know if it's possible to reset my bios password and if it can't happen then could I at least:
disable : Reverse-Fn keys
enable : Hyper Virtualization for VMware
without accessing the bios options
I had these options before but after I upgraded my bios firmware with the new 8DCN40WW everything went back to default.
I created a thread on lenovo forums but they said i should send them the motherboard which is not possible for me.
I really don't want to brick my laptop so i decided to create a new thread
Here's the information you asked in the sticky thread:

PHP Code:

To reset Lenovo laptop password, the option to me is to use Windows Password Recovery. Hope this simple password recovery tool can help us login locked Windows in easy way.

Thank you.
But I think you should read my question again...it's about BIOS PASSWORD not windows password.
but thanks again  Blush

Have you tried resetting the BIOS by pulling out the CMOS battery? I'm not sure if that would work.

Alternatively, you could also try the Insyde BIOS recovery via a crysis recovery USB. This would force a BIOS flash that should bypass the password. From my limited understanding, you'll need access to your BIOS's .fd file named in some special way (you can figure this out with Andy's tools), and a flash drive formatted in FAT32 (preferably lower than 2GB for compatibility).

If it's a UEFI computer, you could also try changing the settings you want with https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...-EFI-shell

tried to get myself comfortable with wincrisis.1.0.0.4
but it gives error : there are no ..... which is wrong because i have a Flash drive attached (4GB - Format:FAT32 - Allocation size: Default)

When i tried running it with administrator..... it gives error: Failed to start service "WinCrisis" after press OK it gives another one and after i press OK AGAIN it gives: Warning, the driver loaded fail. and finish

EDIT:
i tried running it with compatibility option: Win Service pack 3
and actually it runs smoothly but the problem is that the Browse button is disabled so i can't choose project path.....

EDIT2:
i just tried copying my bios firmware as bios.wph into wincrisis's folder and it worked
format the flash drive and then copied "MINIDOS.SYS"-"PHLASH16.EXE"-"bios.wph" into it
I don't know if the software should have do that by itself or not...i just copied the files MANUALLY into the flash drive after the format with win crisis

i just followed these instructions:

--------------------------------LENOVO THINKPAD X200 TABLET - BIOS RECOVERY--------------------------------

1.)Use a usb stick and do a format as FAT from windows.
(I use 1gb stick)

2.)Run WINCRIS.EXE select your formated usb stick Click the "Start" button whait and a message come and say to "Remove your stick
and reconect" So remove the stick click "OK" to the window (do not close the WINCRIS.EXE and dont click anything else) and reconect.
Afer choose "YES" in the windows say "Do you whant to format onother crisis disk?" and click again the "Start" button.
(This is to make sure we update the CRISBOOT.BIN in usb boot sector. For me works like that.)
(If WINCRIS.EXE doesnt run and give an error try to run it in compatibility mod)

3.)Remove your stick and reconect, copy in the stick the "MINIDOS.SYS"-"PHLASH16.EXE"
and finaly your bios with name: bios.wph.

Bios.wph include in the zip is for Lenovo thinkpad x200
