The same? No. Each file backup (and therefore each mod bios) contains personal data like serial numbers, Windows keys, Mac addresses, NVRAM settings, etc.

I thought they were the same as you can download the bios file from their website.  Im also interested in unlocking the hidden menu on my bios but stuck as how to go about it  :Sad Hoping you can help

I only see the Nvidia 1060 so I assume that the Intel GPU is disabled however I don't see any option in the stock firmware to enable the Intel also. Personally I don't see a need to have a modded bios unless it will allow to to use the Intel GPU on the CPU when I need or want to. I guess the need depends on what other settings an unlocked bios will provide like overclocking ability but doubt you can overclock i7-6700HQ and even so this laptop runs "hot enough to cook a turkey" to quote a ROG forum user when gaming.

I have a G-SYNC screen so intel graphics is a no go for me anyway.  The modded bios gives soo many new options, most of which i have no idea what they do.  I just fancied the fact of having a modded bios so i can tinker later on

Any advice on what options i should enable/disable to increase performance will be muchas appreciatas

Can someone confirm if you can enable the iGPU with the modded bios? You can still use the iGPU with the G-Synch display it just won't be able to take advantage of G-Synch when it is using the iGPU from what I understand. I just want to be able to try out OSX86 on this beautiful laptop but since NVidia hasn't released any drivers the only way is to re-enable the iGPU. Thanks

Hi mate - im not saying you cant but id double check about enabling the iGPU on a G-SYNC screen as ive read somewhere it will definitely brick your laptop.  If you do try and it works then great  Smile

ps ive lost my modded bios so not sure if iGPU can be enabled - there were soo many options available though so im guessing it is in there somewhere

Thanks and I think you might be right. Did some searches and it appears that the display is only connected to the dGPU thus if you enabled the iGPU it would no longer be able to display any output thus bricking the unit. This is probably fixable but will likely require replacing the bios chip. I don't really care enough about trying out OS X to make it worth such a risk. My sister tried to get me to spend my money on a MacBook telling me Mac's are better. Better at what? Taking more of my money for a lesser machine? Anyways I am going off topic. Thanks again.

Hi all. Sorry for bumping a fairly old thread.

Just wanted to know, did anyone manage to get turbo clock for 4 cores up to 3.5ghz? I managed to unlock the bios and set the turbo cores limit up to 35, but it still wont get higher than 3.1ghz at windows testing with throttlestop software. My cpu only heats up to 65c at games, so there would be a lot of room to "overclock" it. Any help? Thanks. Laptop GL702VM i7 6700hq
