Hi Da Vinci Code,

Thanks for your reply, I'm all for solution #2.

As I said in my first post I removed the chip already and have a SPI programmer with me. That is how I retrieved the NOR flash dump.

As for code, I'm not afraid of digging into it, but what I am lacking the most are tools (running on Linux possibly) to disassemble the dump. I'm surprised I can't find the Realtek IDs in the dump. Any pointers on how to achieve that?

Arf, ok, I'll try to make another dump with shorter cables.
As a FYI I went for a solution with everything I had in hands first, so I've used my Raspberry Pi + flashrom to do that dump. I'll let you know once I'm done.
Hopefully I didn't damage the flash while removing it from the motherboard. Do you know if there's a place with original flash dump for BIOS (especially for lenovo laptops)? If there is I'll order a few W25Q128FV parts right now.

I'm a T430s owner and unfortunaly my TP have the same problem of x240 to permit the WLAN swap.
Is impossible for me to extract and modify the bios (i don't have an SPI flasher) but i'm really interested to you first option, after googling about this i found a guide to rebrand a DW-1510 (broadcom based card) http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1...rds/page-1, but unfortunely it doesn't work.
Can you share a guide or give me a feedback about this way?

PS: i also tried to search info about the new method of EC patching https://github.com/hamishcoleman/thinkpad-ec but i don't understand clearly if this method permit me to add or swap a device ids to bypass whitelist.

Welcome everyone.

I have been lurking this place for longer than a year now. I have learned many important things from this.
Modded my past two laptops successfully.
Here I sit in front of my dad's x240 (it's his private laptop, don't worry).
He wanted to change his wifi card, so I decided to help him with the whitelist. I managed to find a correct module with uefitool, analyse it using ida and modify with hexeditor. Flashed it using minipro programmer. Now he's very happy it works. 

The problem is the double 5 beeps thing (1-1-1-1-1---1-1-1-1-1). I disabled SecurityChip with no effect. (if it's not doable, he could live with that)

I also have problem with unlocking advanced menu tab (Last one I unlocked was on some old Dell year ago, it was an easy process). Now I see that in this case it's completely different as FormSets are loaded (somehow) through different modules.

I have already found modules with "Advanced" form set and some kind of "form loader". 

I am a programmer, also with successes in software reverse-engineering  (computer science student, last semester of bachelors). I'm really not interested in 'just download and flash it' solutions. Could someone be so kind and at least try to explain to me what to look for? Or how to approach the problem? Really couldn't find anything more on the internet  Confused
