[REQUEST] Toshiba Satellite L50-B BIOS Unlock
#1
Hello,

My name is Tom, and I need a BIOS that would allow
1. IDE access to hard drive/ CD (currently Hirens CD loads Mini XP but can not see the CD it hasloaded itself from; neither it can see the hard drive)
2. Option to disable ACPI (edit clarification: disable AHCI in favor of IDE)
3. Eliminate EMS / EMM problem(s): currently Hirens can not load unless HimemX is used

Ideal BIOS: Insyde20 ver. 1.50 on Toshiba Satellite L505 running on Intel Core Duo (year 2009)

The "problem" computer I need your help with is Toshiba C55-B5392, part number PSCLUU, currently running BIOS version 1.40.

I am willing to pay (perhaps PayPal).

I have also ordered Toshiba Satellite L50-BST2NX3 Laptop
Intel® Core™ i3-4005U Processor, Windows 8.1, 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz, (16GB Max, not user upgradeable), Intel® Integrated Graphics, 1.0TB (5400 RPM, Serial ATA), DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer), Wi-Fi® Wireless networking (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth® V4.0, Click pad pointing device with multi-touch control, Premium Frameless TruType Keyboard with 10-Key Pad, Lithium Ion (45Wh, 4-Cell)—*Not user replaceable, 1-USB (2.0) port, 1-USB (3.0) port, 1-USB (3.0) port with USB Sleep and Charge
PSKT4U-0GV02M
- that one just in case we can not fix the problems with C55-B5392.

I am based in Illinois.

Hello Tom and Welcome to the Community!

I can attempt to try this by unlocking advanced tab, but there is no guarantee your requested options would be available. I specialise in UEFI BIOS but I am willing to give it a shot, BDMaster is an expert in Insyde so to be frankly quite honest you'd be best sending him a PM, remember to include a BIOS dump (results.rar) and send it to him, you can download the BIOS dump utility here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/jli0sg

Kind Regards

I understand you can not give 100% guarantee, I accept that for as long as you honestly exercise a good-faith effort to at least allow flashing back to the vendor-provided BIOS.
Please PM me with your rates and the information you need. Bear in mind, I may not know how to get information you'd be requesting. All I can say, I have bios.rom and ec.rom of version 1.40 currently in the laptop.
Thank you,
Tom

I do it for free, i accept donations. If you use the tool provided to dump bios i will have a look for you, but here it is 2:50am so I need to go to bed, I will continue helping later though!

Kind Regards

I have collected the results.rar and am attempting to attach the rar to this message
Tom
Note: I have removed the results.rar and have put them to the website. If you have spoken with me, you know the URL.

Question
Satellite L50-B-14M
PSKTAE-01600KDU

Windows 7 x64

BIOS ver: 05.04.114.00 (info from WMIC)
SMBIOS Ver: 2.00
BIOS Link: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...095705.zip
Photos of BIOS tabs in attachments.

I like to ask Modders of bios-mods.com community to check what options are accessible to unlock in my laptop BIOS(if any at all).

I'm most interested in features that could give me some control over cooling fan. Probably power related would be best.

(Optional: info/story(you realy don't have to read this))
Why fan control?
Because after replacement of malfunctioning fan(original) to compatybile substitute I notice 'annoying' difference.
Original fan had ~4(i don't remember exactly) speed levels(with of course depend on temperatures) where a new one seems to have only 2 levels: min & max.
So for example playing not very resources absorbing game switch fan to max just to get back to min lvl when 100% rpm's are reached and this process repeats every ~6-8 seconds.
At the moment finding solution in BIOS locked options is my last idea after 3 days struggle.
