HP Envy X360 weird problem
#21
Can you run the stock BIOS installer (sp92323.exe), and then save BIOS from that flash window? Some HP you can do this, I can't tell on my system since it wont run that far.

If not, here, try this one HPWingui extracted from the stock installer package, this is AFUWinGUIx64 rebranded by HP. Hopefully it will work by itself, without driver, because if it's missing driver there is 20+ files without extension and I can't tell their proper names/extensions easily without digging through each one by hex which would take forever.

That driver you mentioned may help, put in the folder with this

Yea, i can save the original bios, attached here:

For that hp software, it won't work, attached a screenshot. tried with command line parameters, no go.

Thanks, Yes, I used AMIUCP to extract many of these files, I assumed maybe that EXE wouldn't work by itself without the other files in same folder.
I thought maybe we'd get lucky and it would allow "Save" function to work still.

This is it's default command line >> /tpmrev:F.18 /p /devfw:TPS65988C,TPS65988E /ssid:08496,08497
and the package contains two different BIOS roms. Here, see all the files included, this is AMIUCP with this package open

Is the above attached file, saved with the stock flashing tool download, the sp92323.exe?

Morning. Yes, the file is saved from the sp92323.exe file. There are 2 bios files, probably for 2 revisions or something like that. the correct one is the ssid:08496 version

Yes, I assumed one mage for certain system and the other for another, Intel desktop board BIOS packages are worse, sometimes they put 4-6 images into one BIOS
The file above is only a dump out from the exe, not a save from your actual BIOS Sad
I wonder why they do that, they know that no one will know how to flash BIOS with that, I guess maybe it can be used with their recovery process in some deep hidden method it takes people in need ages to find Big Grin

See if this will get you a backup or not

Very strange! @DeathBringer - do you know a way to pull a BIOS region backup off this system?

I'd suggest removing battery for a day, not just 10 min. This laptop runs CMOS off main battery I think.
Check if you can then connect power w/o battery and start the laptop. You may have a battery issue.

If no go see if you can change power mgmt settings in BIOS and kill adv. power mgmt.
You probably cannot change the date in Win. as well.

CMOS reset is done like this:
Press power for 2-3 sec while holding Win+V. After it starts release power button, keep holding Win + V ~3 secs more and then release Win + V keys. The CMOS check status will be displayed. If you miss that try again.

Run hardware diagnostics, start laptop and hit Esc, choose hardware diagnostics, check MB, memory etc.
Looks like hardware issue to me, either MB or system battery.

So...got the battery out for a night, tried to bot it up without the battery, the problem persisted.  Now when i've started it after one night without the battery, it chaged...the date is not stuck in 2021 but in 2025 Big Grin

Tried to do the Win + V reset, no luck.

Yea...i think it's a hardware issue to...i wonder, is the RTC included in the chipset or in a bigger chip or is a separate IC on the board?
