Unlock GA-P67-DS3-B3 (rev. 1.0)
#21
Yes, those hybrid BIOS only good with Ivy, and really not great there either, P67 best used with SB only. That dual BIOS screen, 1/5th blue gradient at top, that is the BIOS recovery screen, where it's trying to flash backup to main. If you are stuck there then you need flash programmer to recover usually.

So you got it recovered correct? If yes, did you program both BIOS back to the non UEFI? If not, you should do that, so it never accidentally recovers back to the UEFI BIOS from the backup chip. This can be done with your programmer or via alt+F12 at startup, where you'd normally try to be entering BIOS. If you get boot choice screen reboot and keep trying, it's tricky to get sometimes. Best with PS/2 KB if you have one.

Thanks, I read about it. Just gave it a try.

Had to solder  off main bios SPI flash to programm it, everything went fine, and no, flashed only main_bios SPI. I know about Alt+F12 combo, but haven`t done that yet. I`ve got CH341A for the worst scenario.  Smile
The main problem for further experiments is soldering station, I have it in my office, not home, but this is my main PC, so it can`t be broken even for a while.

I would do the backup reflash now, best to get it done so you don't have to worry and recover later.
And then order SOIC8 test clip w/ cable so you don't have to solder next time Big Grin - https://www.ebay.com/itm/382486015977

I've got that clip. Tried to flash SPI right on a board. CH341A can read it in that case, but can't write it. If I plug in power cable and turn on power supply ( I mean just turn on the switch on it) programmer can recognize SPI model, but it can not write it. I assume that CH341A just can't give needed power to whole circuit of that part of mobo, where bios chips are. So in that particular case soldering is a necessity.

It works fine, you just have to use correct version of software and pick correct ID (not always same as chip). What is your BIOS chip ID?
Easiest way is KB shortcut though, you'd be done in a few reboots (or one if you get timing right first time)

No, it doesn`t, I mean there are almost no mobo that could be flashed without unsoldering bios SPI, it could be done with videocards though.
As for backup SPI - I flashed b_bios with ALT+F12 - it works like a charm. But... after all of those actions my mobo seems to be damaged - it's lowering every line voltage to more than 5%, I think it caused by not very gentle Deepcool Lucifer v2 installation, some contacts seemed to be cracked inside one of the internal layers, and that causes random reboots under high load (because I OC RAM and CPU), also even without OC low voltage causes my graphics card being choppy. And no Smile, it's not power supply, tried 3 absolutely good PS`s - same thing. I had to buy Asrock Z68 Pro3 for less than 35$, so I am trying  to settle with it now. Finally, when i got Asrock, just tried the last experiment with giga - and result is the same bootloop, it`s very interesting, that mobo works well with uefi, but only untill shutdown - when I turned PC off to install new mobo and then tried to start giga on open stand - it just doesnt boot. So this is the end of the story. Giga R.I.P. Thanks for help, Lost_N_BIOS

Necroposting #2. Hi, Lost_N_BIOS. My Asrock died in 2020, but it wasn't my main PC at that time. So some time ago I needed backup computer for my wife. I took my giga from closet,  dusted off it and tried to make it boot. Well, I failed. So I decided to flash F5 rev.1.0 via CH341A just to make it work. It booted up, and I just ended up with working Legacy Hybrid EFI bios. Then I purchased PCIe-to-M2 card and NVMe SSD, just because giga has one more PCIe slot. I modified bios with OpROMNVMe via CBROM. SSD showed up in boot menu, but system was installed on GPT disk in EFI mode, and just didn't boot. So I decided to return to experiments with UEFI bios, so I'm here again. Smile Unfortunately, all the links you've provided are dead, I've lost all my archives with your mods, and I could`t find any info and tools how to modify award bios ID to crossflash another mobo firmware. What I want to do is to modify UA2 UEFI from rev.2.0 to work with NVME disk as boot device, so I'm asking you for a help, can you provide me another copy of modified FE bios from rev.2.0 with rev.1.0 BIOS ID, or just tell me how to edit original.bin with correct bios ID in FE bios image? TIA
