Request for WWAN whitelist removal/edit - HP dv2-1215ax - BIOS F.27 A - MC8781
#1
Hi All,

I need to plug mini PCIe of Sierra Wireless mc8781 in my HP DV2-1215ax,
but after i plug it and starting my Notebook occuerss error '105-Unsupported wireless broadband device detected.System Halted. Remove device and restart.' Dodgy
So think its not approved by bios, and i check in many forum, it said that in HP bios there's whitelist, and the whitelist have 2 kind, for WWAN and for WLAN.

Before that i now some whitelist of WLAN in BIOSCOD1.ROM, but i'm not see in that ROM for whitelist of WWAN. Some forum said on BIOSCOD5.ROM(BIOS Code) and some of on MOD_5100.ROM (other module), but i didn't know where Confused.

I need to know the whitelist of WWAN that already written in BIOS of my HP DV2-1215ax, in the HP site this notebook using BIOS F.27 A
link here -> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...ob-77058-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=my&os=4062&product=4129342&sw_lang=

So we can change that whitelist with other WWAN module, and it would be good if we can disable the whitelist for WWAN Sleepy, in this time i want to using mc8781. And another problem i cannot to detect vendor id, product id and subsys for my mc8781. Every i hotplug the card it my notebook, only few seconds its detect, but after that its disappeared, i'll already try many times. I suspect theres driver that read bios that prevent unregistered WWAN event i using hotplug.

as i see in many forum wireless mc8781 having VID_1199&PID_6856, but like i said before for subsys must try to plug in any notebook to check it Dodgy, but not on my notebook Huh

Please help for edit/mod/check/disable whitelist of my HP DV2-1215ax BIOS so i can using Sierra Wireless mc8781.

Please advice me what to do .........

In the meantime,if you want me to help by providing a modified bios then please reply to this post with details of existing wireless card and the new card. The info I'll need is the VEN_ ,DEV_ and SUBSYS_ id's.. Follow the steps below to get this information.

1. Remove existing wireless card from laptop, leave the access cover off.
2. Boot laptop and enter boot selection screen.
3. Install new card (whilst laptop is running), no need connect antenna wires.
4. Boot into windows and new card will appear as unknown device.
5. Now you can obtain exact ven, dev & subsys id's from device properties

anyway i already try to put my WWAN mc8781 card like you said, but its never show in device manager. So change the plan, i remove my wlan in another slot, then i replaced with WWAN, tadaaa its working, the WWAN
can be detected, but the problem when i check hardware ids, theres no
subsystem on it, only ven and dev. But i scan other and found this code
but i don't know if this usefull or not :
SWMUXBUS\SW_NET_0_VID_1199&PID_6856 (in modem section)
USB\VID_1199&PID_6856\5&34f8df00&0&1 (in usb section)
USB\VID_1199&PID_6856&REV_0002 (in network adapter section)

the info of wwan is different with wlan info, wlan having subsystem on hardware ids. and another thing if i using rw, in pci i cannot found WWAN, but my WWAN showed on USB Device?

note : in device manager the sierra wireless show in network adapter section, modem section and usb section.

what do u think ?

so how i find the WWAN whitelist section in BIOS F.27 A ?
i tried to search on BIOSCOD01, 02 and 05, but no clue,

i using some of approved VID & PID in some HP Notebook (but i still
don't sure for my dv2) :
- HP HS2300 (Sierra MC8775) WWAN card ID:03F0 1E1D
- HP EV2200 (Sierra MC5720) WWAN card ID:03F0 1B1D
- HP EV2210 (Sierra MC5725) WWAN card ID:03F0 211D
- HP UN2420 card ID 03f0 241d
- ? ID:03f0 201d
- HP un2400 card ID:03f0 1f1d
- Huawei EM770/770U/770W: 12D1_1003, 12D1_1001, 12D1_1404
- Qualcomm GOBI: 05C6_9204, 05C6_9205

please help?

not yet working, the last i show is only check di vid and pid,
but the actual problem not yet solved.
Because if i put the card in the right place, every i start
my notebook that card will blocked by BIOS
105-Unsupported wireless broadband device detected. System halted.
Remove device and restart.

So i must open again the back case, remove my card Confused

What i need this mc8781 dedicated in the notebook. You can imagine
if i'm not add it to whitelist, every i need using the broadband i must :
1. start the notebook without mc8781 and stop hold on boot menu
2. open the back case, put mc8781
3. continue enter to the os.
4. start the card then browsing.
