Insyde unlocking Bios Hidden Setting
#1
Ok i am NOT the expert here so guys i am asking you!!! I have been able to mod my acer 7720G bios to insert my own logo, add SLIC 2.1 ACER, and enable VT but its there a way with ezh20 to achieve any more bios options which are hidden?

My regards,
Ribben

On NBR there are a few guys unlocking bios options. One guy is unlocking acer phoenix and a couple of guys unlocking insyde. Try looking here, this guy unlocked a 3810 and I think somewhere else in the acer section someone unlocked a travelmate or extensa.

Hi, try to read this article: http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/e...-aspire-8930g/

You can find some basics there

Also read comments as there are a lot of useful stuff from people

Then read this: http://x86asm.net/articles/uefi-prog...eps/index.html

Follow instructions to create EFI boot device (as described just place some files into \EFI\BOOT\ on it). Try to boot from this device. If EFI boot is enabled in your system further investigations will be simpler

Thanks

I think ahumphers91a was trying to link here: http://x86asm.net/articles/uefi-programm...index.html (link probably moved since his post.)

Anyway, I just wrote up a blog about enabled the hidden menu on my Acer with an Insyde BIOS. It might be relevant to other people trying, and not wanting to go through the hassle of modding and flashing: My method simply sets the value of the variable in the CMOS, which ought be easier for people not terribly keen on hacking up their BIOS. ;-)

Link to my blog entry:

(I think it's likely t0o big for me to just cut and paste here, so... )

Hopefully this wasn't a one shot deal since I only see one post, but what does one do when the manufacturer doesn't post the bios file on it's website?

You can get an Insyde bios by doing:
flashit backup.fd /G

To just enable the hidden menu, try comparing before and after with the D2D recovery enabled and disabled.
