Dell Inspiron 530 / 530s v1.0.2 Experimental Unlocking & Upgrading Project
#11
I took a look at the motherboard to see if the BIOS is soldered and it looks like it is. I'm not sure so I'll find an image of how it looks like Smile

Yes its soldered on so in terms of recovery if a flash fails and he recovery instructions dont work then you would have to get it professionaly reflashed (They have special equipment which doesnt require the chip to be removed from the board) or buy a new motherboard

You take a risk every time

If you were willing to be a testing lead on this though you could always replace that with a socket on the motherboard so you could remove the chip.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 sitting here with the Foxconn G33M02 motherboard and would be willing to test, but I am looking to be able to disable the dell splash screen, will the mod you presently have allow me to do this?

not at present but we will look into making the feature available if and where possible in future builds! Smile

well unfortunatly its non remavable on my board. i know theres a good deal of risk involved, more so since it cant be removed, but something just tells me if we do this carefully and in a controled way this could be a really good thing. And after all im tired of it being said that you cant overclock a dell. im also really eagar to be educated some.

ok well i have the files saved. i never flashed this computer before so would i still go about in a similar way as with a non oem computer? or is it just as simple as creating a bootable usb drive and flashing like did my other computer? i just want to be sure because id like to not brick my mobo only because i flashed it wrong.

Yes , flash bios1.bin from dos (Or use winflash included in the download but DOS is better!)

You will need a copy of awdflash.exe on the bootable drive to to flash it with. if you dont have a cpy www.bios-mods.com/tools

Good luck!
