Rampage III Extreme Bios 1102 Moded request
#21
That still had 8.0, so I doubt this will work, but here's a version with 10.0

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

You are right Dansolo: don´t work. Sorry for wasting your time. Thank you.

Hi All,
Same problem for me.
I tried to mod the 1102 Bios but I have the same symptom...
The problem for me is that I have a SSD and it doesn't work correctly with this motherboard....

Exactly. And don´t expect that Asus solve your problem.

I'm having the same problem with modding my ICH10R RAID option ROM in my Rampage III Gene. Its really bizzare because with my Rampage II Gene I could change the ROM all day long and no problem. I was running 9.6 on the Rampage II Gene before this board. I don't understand why it doesn't work now.

Could we be needing an updated version of MMTool?

:edit:
Even more strange, Dansolo I notcied that you modded another user's R3E bios rev 901 a few weeks ago in this thread and it worked:

We are talking about intel bios rom and, i think, that post is about marvell.

It's possible that he didn't try Intel Matrix RAID. I dunno.

What I can tell you is this: Asus needs to get some BIOS engineers that care about their customers and until they do, I will not recommend an Asus motherboard. Period. Maybe not even an Asus product at all.

Hopefully this will hold true.

Below is the correspondence with Asus support they would like me to send the board in for RAM due to this issue, I think the update would fix this but want to try it before tearing my system apart and sending the board back. Below is the correspondence with a Asus support specialist and a link to bios mods that speaks about the issues people are having.

Sadney,
Besides the raid Issue the board works in non-raid configuration, it also
works in raid configuration however the issues is only occurring when using
SSD's that are configured in RAID 0 within the bios prior to OS
installation. As a work around I have set the drives up on the Intel raid
controller in non-raid configuration. I then loaded the OS and loaded the
newest raid drivers from Intel 10.1.01.1008 I was then able to extended out
the drive to raid 0 with no issues. I rebooted multiple time verified that
in the bios it show raid 0 for the two SSD's, I then wiped the drives set
the drives up in the BIOS to RAID 0 loaded the OS and after about 10-15 min
the SSD fails and no longer shows up in the Intel bios configuration using
the v8.0.0. 1038 driver and rom. Since I use a rather elaborate set up IE
water cooling and the issue seems to be a BISO issue can Asus try to either
add the Intel RAID 9.6.0.1014 or the Intel Matrix RAID 10.0.0.1046 rom to
the 1102 BIOS so I can test? I really don't want to have to take apart my
system and send it all the way out there for 2+ weeks if this is something
that can be resolved through testing.

Try RAID 8.5... Hopefully Gary can get 10.0 or 10.1 for you guys, but I think this 8.5 might work in the meantime. If it does, then I will do 8.5 BIOS releases for other Asus X58 boards as well.

Just make sure you make people aware that 8.5 has a bug which makes it impossible to run RAID arrays exceeding 2TB. Some people I modded for ran into this issue and did not know they would.

I really want to know what is causing that 64K limit...so sad Sad
