This is an Award Bios so You have to use ModBin 6.0 or above :

I have an hp pavilion a6700z desktop, which uses the exact same asus M2N68-LA Narra3 motherboard. It runs bios version 5.17. With this unlocked bios, could I overclock my cpu? If so, would it work? Confused

Hi everyone.
I have a M2N68-LA rev 3.02 Revision 5.04 12/12/2007 Core Version 6.0.
I would like to unlock the RAID options in this motherboard's BIOS.

I have already read A Learning Guide for Using Modbin6 for Award BIOS which seems very well detailed and easy to follow.
Please let me know which version of ModBin6 should l I use, the latest one is 2.04.03.
Can someone share once more the the BIOS file, in the last link the download is restricted.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I just tried flashing with this using AwardFlash in DOS off of a USB Stick. I typed in

awdflash 513.rom /cc/cd/cp/py/R

Award flash opened, and it programmed block by block. When it was done, it rebooted. Thats it.

I am now starting at a blank screen. I push the power button, but the LCD doesn't even come out of standby. I even took out my video card and unhooked all devices, and hooked the LCD to the mobo's vga port. Nothing. Keyboard doesn't light, and neither does the HD light. The fans work....now what?? Did i break it?

It looks like fatallysilent "bricked" his board with the modded 513.rom file which is actually for Narra & Narra2 boards, NOT for a Narra3 board which 1234s282 incorrectly pointed out and fatallysilent should replace the board.  The 513.rom file is 512k in file size while the modded BIOS file for HP A6430F is 1Mb in file size.  The Narra3 boards use a slightly different flash bios chip with a different size than the Narra1 & Narra2 boards use.

The download was not restricted - I can download the file just fine but it seems to be just a SLIC 2.1 mod.
I recently bought an M2N68-LA rev 3.02 board (HP p/n 5189-1661 < this was printed on a sticker) that has BIOS revision 5.10 dated 2/21/2008 and will try to use ModBin6 to unlock some BIOS options, other than just doing a SLIC 2.1 mod - the HP computer with this Narra3 board now identifies itself as an HP M8417C computer.

I also wanted to point out that there are some Narra3 boards that come with Firewire/1394 ports & SPDIF digital audio ports while there are other Narra3 boards that do not come with the 1394 & SPDIF ports. Check the HP part nos. of the M2N68-LA Narra3 boards carefully (look at the "stickers" on the boards). Only the Narra3 board with HP pn 5189-1661 seems to come with these "extra" IO ports while the Narra3 boards with P/Ns 462798-001 and 459164-001 do not have the Firewire and SPDIF audio ports.

If you're referring to this link http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/HP%20OEM%...lite2K.zip I get an 404 error page not found.
If you have another link please let me know.

actually ionmang20, I've flashed a different BIOS version - v5.63 from the sp49108.exe pack (and created my own slic 2.1 mod out of the unmodded v5.63 bios file) onto the Narra3 board of my HP computer more than a year ago and I'm using an AMD Phenom II X4 B97 processor - no unlock options. I just didn't really had the time to use ModBin6 & risk bricking the HP computer, plus the ModBin6 tool requires a 32bit Windows OS (doesn't work correctly on a 64bit OS since I was using x64 Windows 7).

screenshot of narra3 bios v5.63 from CPU-Z (I may post up a modded v5.63 bios later on if someone wants it as it used to be available long time ago but is no longer there)

ok I've decided to take matters into my own hands and fortunately I still have a copy of the v5.10 SLIC 2.1 mod - I've posted it here since nobody else wanted to post it up:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/4395c5

(this is a temporary link, so download ASAP when you see this - link may be valid for a limited time)
I may consider posting it in the future on either Google Drive or MS Onedrive when the Sendspace link expires

Edit 3/7: there seems to be a confusion as to whether users are actually using a NARRA3 board or not.  The link that I have is the correct version with the correct flash BIOS size (1024k - v5.10 dated 2/21/2008) and for NARRA3 boards only (NOT for Narra2 & older and definitely not for Narra5/Narra6).  the one previously linked to dropbox (v5.13 dated 10/2007) is for the older NARRA or NARRA2 boards and has a flash BIOS size of 512k, which will NOT work with the NARRA3 & higher boards and could possibly render these boards unbootable when using the wrong flash BIOS file.

Use either the CPU-Z tool & click on the Mainboard tab of that program (like in the attached picture) OR the Speccy tool & click on the Motherboard section of that program to verify that a NARRA3 board is used before flashing.  Another way of checking is to open up the computer case and look at the actual markings/writings of the motherboard - it should say M2N68-LA rev. 3.02.  If the rev. no says other than 3.02 [ex. 1.01 or 5.00], then do not proceed any further.  Only users with M2N68-LA Narra3 board revision 3.02 can use the v5.10 download that I've posted.

Edit 3/18: Folks, before flashing any modded bios please use high quality PSUs like Corsair, Antec, Enermax, Seasonic, OCZ, etc. with these M2N68-LA boards and NOT the stock HP OEM PSUs that were made by Bestec as these M2N68-LA boards are prone to the capacitor plague & failing prematurely, and may require ordering an M2N68-LA replacement capacitor kit from Badcaps.net to replace the faulty capacitors if you don't like replacing these boards.  Be sure to replace the Bestec PSUs with some of the well known brand PSUs that I mentioned (I'm currently using the Narra3 board with an Enermax EG465P-VE SFMA 2.0 power supply unit and that board hasn't failed with that psu)
