[REQUEST] Acer Aspire 8930(G) BIOS Unlock

Are you sure your laptop support 8gb of ram? Cause PM45 Chipset does but not all Laptop-Mainboards does as well. Check if the modules work fine. cause when you can use 6gb its half of the way.

#2
For this task you need an unlocked bios. I am not a modder yet, but pls post a link to your original-bios to make work easyer.

#3
Here is one big Problem. not every PM45 board can support quad-cores. They changed the socket-wiring. So its just an try and error game.

So hier nun für dich auf deutsch:

#1

Simmie

English (Sorry, im not the best with, hard to explain my self):

afaik there was some versions of the Acer Aspire 8930G
Quadcore Q9000 with 6/8Gb ram
Dualcore T5800 and bigger
Geforce 9600M GS 512MB and 1024Mb Version and bigger

Im confused about there was everytime the same mainboard integrated as i read about
I please you to explain me how to look about the mainboard to know if it was the same model

The thing about my whole questions was i want to get the biggest setup into my Acer aspire 8930G also Biggest CPU, RAM, Graphiccard. Cause i love the Laptop (GIANT Laptop with MEGA Sound!)

Bios was just the version out of this Forum 1.21 SLIC2 and VT-X

Hey mate.
I just searched for the specs you want:
They selled it with Q9000:
http://www.amazon.de/Acer-8930G-904G50WN...B001O2S4CO (Link 1)
So your chance is good but the only way to find out is simply try... BUT FIRST SEE LAST LINK!!!

Graficscard:
Check what kind of Slot you have. I guess its MXM II and there is no need to upgrade cause 9600M GS is one of the best MXM II-Cards. Only improvements can be made from RAM but beware, 1024MB dont need to be better then 512MB. You need to look for the fastest RAM so DDR2<GDDR3 and so on. But i dont think improvements are worth upgrading.

some pics from MXM-Cards:
http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/Tech_13.html (Link 2)
Acer-Userforum (German):
http://www.acer-userforum.de/acer-aspire...schen.html (Link 3)

Now after googling some time... I found a nice topic in Aceruserforum (german)... Some say in it that there where 2 different kinds of mainboards. One that handle quadcores and 8gb of ram and one that does not handle quadcores and 8gb of ram (it seems like only handling 6gb)...
http://www.acer-userforum.de/hardware/23...glich.html (Link 4)

Greetings
Simmie

Simmie

im sorry to ressurect an old thread but i thought it might be better than starting a new one as I did try search the forum first.

im looking for an unlocked acer aspire 8930g bios.

i want to access the hidden menus so I can undervolt my Q9000 and drop temps. I dont like doing it from windows and prefer bios.

im currently using a modded v1.21 with VT-x enabled and SLIC 2.1

I can post a link to the bios or I can email it to someone if they ask. Im posting the message using a smartphone so i cant upload anything to a hosting service.

Hey, So I found an Acer Aspire 8930G, and i would love to reuse it and make something out of it, now i got lucky and i have the model that have P45 chipset which supports DDR3 8gb, but I need a bios to enable that as it's bios locked by acer, and if possible the ability to enable Uefi mode over legacy as I am trying to add a external GPU, most GPU now a days require UEFI BIOS.

I tried the 1.21 Bios that I found here, while I can't confirm if it removed the 4gb limit, i can say that i don't have uefi enabled nor visible as a toggle.

Link for the original BIOS (1.20):

1.20

Link for the Current Flashed Bios (1.21):

1.21

Thanks for anyone who is willing to help!

I too have recently bought a Nvidia GTX 1050 ti along with a EXP GDC Express Card External GPU base and power supply to use with my Acer Aspire 8930g. Unfortunately in order to fully utilize an external GPU with this laptop it requires a UEFI Bios with a Legacy mode toggle option which is not available in the stock insydeh2o bios 1.20 and 1.21 vt mod versions.

A Bios mod that enables these modes would be a life saver for me. Hopefully someone here would revive this thread and release such a mod, or at least let us know if it is even possible to do such a thing.

Thanks to anyone who is more than willing to help out us 8930g users.
