Thanks sinders I will give it a try and let ya know how it goes? Who is still hosting rst 11.2? Station drivers has cleaned up their site a bit and only showing a few steps back. I will search for them tomorrow, unless I already have them and that is a real possibility. Currently on my laptop and not home so not sure yet.

EDIT: Well I just do not see any benefit at all going to 11.2. The #1 most important number for a snappy OS experience is clearly QD1 4kb, and 12.8 beats 11.2 on my machine.

Once I get the second 840 Pro in the mail today or tomorrow I will check if these results change, but I do not see anything that convinces me 11.2 is better than 12.7+12.8. Can someone please explain where I can find proof that 11.2 is better than the newer OROM's and RST drivers please? Is there a test that will show it because AS SSD and CrystalDiskMark both show me it is not any better. Some numbers change slightly but not enough to justify any permanent move to them. The numbers I look at most is 4K writes in the QD1 category, which is probably the single most important number for OS performance. In order for 11.2 to be better the results need to be at very least 20% higher numbers, even 10% would be welcomed, then and only then will I consider it better... At present I get 0% or lower with 11.2, as has always been the case for me.

I will stay on 11.2 for now because either today or tomorrow a second SSD comes in from California and I can check again to see how the new controller works with 11.2. Thanks again bud...

EDIT: Also going to try mix and matching drivers. OROM 11.2 and rst 12.8, or vice versa. I think I discovered last week that OROM 12.7 and drivers 11.2 produced significant gains, but I cant find the data now, lol...

Ok, my latest tests and final tests hopefully, lol... All I can say is how about them C300's with almost 15,000 hours on them?

100% fresh Windows Install and all updates up to today. Everything default and NO SSD tweaks of any kind performed as of yet. OROM 12.7 is definitely better than 11.2, but the latest IRST drivers remain behind, but not by much.
Strangely the C300's perform better on the newer OROM and Drivers than they do on the older code. And the 840 Pro's do better when the OROM is 12.7 using the 11.2 Drivers. Go figure...

I did not test older OROM with newer drivers.

Firstly thanks for the bios update. Great work and keep it up :-)

I know this is not the forum for it but I would really appreciate some help, since I am sure there will be some RAMPAGE III Extreme owners here that like to keep their rigs in top condition

In the past I had a link to station-drivers site for my Rampage Extreme III motherboard but it would seemed they have removed this page and I am now unable to find updates for drivers and firmware. I have searched all over but no joy :-(

If you can provide the links to all the latest driver updates, chipset software and firmware I will need, I'll be extremely grateful. I am going to be running Windows 8 X64.

Hello again ZioGTS,

I have a quick question for you. Have you ever considered modding the OROM to include working RAID TRIM? TRIM works on ICH10R if you know how to modify the OROM in question. As this guy has proven at the link below.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php...tcount=531

This would give us one less reason to upgrade our mobos, lol... I do not know how to mod it myself. Just a thought...

I also do not know how to mod the OROM itself.

SkOrPn, if you do come across modded Intel OROMs that have been said to definitely allow
RAID TRIM to work with the ICH10R Southbridge on our board or could ever ask your friend
Dufus if he could possibly mod the 11.2.0.1527 OROM and the ones he knows works then we
will update our modded BIOSes to include it.

Yeah agreed, that would be one last sweet modification for us Rampage guys who seem to refuse to let go of our boards. However, I may be on his hit list because I asked him if I could beta test for him last June, and well I never got informed of his reply and when I went looking for him again I never looked at Anandtech and never found it via searches until today. So, he may ignore any requests made by myself and I would not blame him. I would prefer to ask him in a PM but that forum needs a ridiculous amount of posts before you can use the PM system.

One thought I have is that I believe the mod needed to allow for trim in raid is not driver or orom version specific. He only tried modding the versions that work best for him on his P67 and it worked right away. So, this seems to suggest that RAID TRIM is possible on ICH10R if you know how to modify the OROM to enable it since he confirmed his modded OROM also works on ICH10R. He used the same exact OROM on two completely different boards with the same result. Very nice work indeed.

Unless we know exactly which parts to modify to what in the Intel OROM for the
ICH10R Southbridge for RAID TRIM then we wouldn't be able to do it anyways.

I haven`t seen any instructions posted ether on how to modify the Intel OROM
for a working RAID TRIM on boards with a ICH10R Southbridge.

It seems Dufus is the only one that knows how to get it working but I don`t
know if he has actually posted how to do it.
