ASUS G71Gx - Enable RAID option in BIOS
#11
Sorry for bumping this in such a short time period, but I would like to get this up and running as soon as possible; I'm going on vacation next week and it would be cool if this would work until then. Smile

It's possible your ICH10 is not the R version and that could be a reason not to enter RAID mode.

3a05 82801JD/DO (ICH10 Family) SATA RAID Controller
3a06 82801JD/DO (ICH10 Family) 2-port SATA IDE Controller
3a14 82801JDO (ICH10DO) LPC Interface Controller
3a16 82801JIR (ICH10R) LPC Interface Controller
3a18 82801JIB (ICH10) LPC Interface Controller
3a1a 82801JD (ICH10D) LPC Interface Controller
3a20 82801JI (ICH10 Family) 4 port SATA IDE Controller #1
3a22 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SATA AHCI Controller
3a25 82801JIR (ICH10R) SATA RAID Controller
3a26 82801JI (ICH10 Family) 2 port SATA IDE Controller #2
3a30 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SMBus Controller
3a32 82801JI (ICH10 Family) Thermal Subsystem
3a34 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1

You should open the PC and look for exact name of the ICH10 chip. 82801JIR if good, 82801JI is not good.

Please remember to come back and leave feedback. I hate leech and disappear thing.

Nice day.

The G71Gx has a 82801JR (ICH10R) southbridge, so RAID should be supported...

Have you read it on the web or have you read it from the chip itself???

So the chip is "the one" the menu is patched and the cmos bits get changed but we still got no raid mode... That's bad, seems like device initialiasation routine does not have the code to put controller in raid mode, yes for ide and ahci but not for raid. Hmmm i don't see easy solution for that.
