Hi, sorry I don't seem to have the hang of this yet. Will the unlocked version of R01-B3 Bios allow me to change my video option? I want to use a decent card instead of the on board option, but in Bios it is greyed out, so I have a PCIE 16 slot which cannot be used. The card is recognized by Hardware Manager.

Thats quite strange actually , ive never heard of a bios being able to control the hardware you put in your slots. Generally , if you put the card into the pci-e slot , then connect your monitor to the card itself , instead of the onboard , then go into the bios , look for a video option (might say Onboard ?Video) and disable that it should just run off the card. If its found in hardware manager then the bios isnt stopping you using it.
In short , plug the decent one in , connect the monitor to the card , not the onboard , then look for an option in the bios to disable the onboard video.

If I plug in to the new board I cannot use bios cos I get a black screen. If I disable the onboard graphics in hardware manager I have to reboot using the disk because although it is booting, I can hear it, I still get the black screen. I've tried to get help from Acer but that is a waste of time.

Sorry to hear of your continuing problem
First , the card is definately working??? Can you try in a different computer to make sure?
Secondly , theres an option in the bios called Init Display First - set this to something other than Onboard
Keep trying!

Keep trying! The card is definitely working straight out of my other computer.
Init Display First is greyed out so won't respond to changes.It is in Device Manager as working correctly. That's why I asked about your unlocked bios. Would it allow Init First Display to be used?

I can confirm that my Modded bios DOES have this Init Display First option available and editable
