		Thanks for the help mate!
Just a quick question what is the major differences between R01-A1 and R02-B1? Is it as I thought just a newer version? Will it increase performance etc?

I tried updating to windows 7 from vista (via virtual drive) and now I get this error "verifying dmi pool data" and it just hangs at startup. I also have a Aspire M5100 but its a R01-A3. Does the A3 make a difference? Ive read that the bios could be the problem for some computers. How do I update the bios if I boot from a flash drive? Just download the r02-b1, put it on the drive and boot it? Or do i have use awdflash?

When I tried using this i got an error message saying it didn't match somehow.
I do have a M5100 Desktop PC with R01-A1 At the moment.
Any ideas what can have gone wrong?

Heres my mod

http://files.getdropbox.com/u/747181/Ace...34s282.zip

Everything TheWiz managed to unlock its still unlocked (CPU Clock , Spread Spectrum , Memory Overclocking Settings , Voltages , PCI-E Config , IGX Config etc)

And after flashing with the threadstarters bios I am now blacked out.
How can I recover?

What is this hotswap method everyone is talking about?
I do not find any information of it anywhere on this forum.

Hot swap is where you can physically swap the bios chips over if the flashing process fails. However , only some bios chips can be removed from there socket like the one below , others are soldered onto the board and cannot be removed

Swaping as in buying a new one?
Luckily I had the slot as your pic illustrated. Is there anyway to get ahold of a new bios chip through biosmods or where do you turn to buy a bios for this model?

The chip said Phoenix Bios TM D686 Bios Phoenix 1998.

Thanks for your time guys.

i dont know about this as ive not done it before http://www.biosman.com sells pre flashed chips which you can replace if the modded one fails to flash and you break your bios , however, , sometimes bios recovery is possible so its only when recovery fails that you have to "hotswap"

Dont flash lightly , there are major risks involved!

Yeah well I can't see anything on the screen , the bios doesnt beep for POST complete either. I tried switching VGA cable from onboard to pci e card as well, no luck.

It does however beep when removing my RAM but I don't see how I can recover it if I don't see anything.

Guess I'll have to use my old P4 until a new chip arrives. Im having trouble however identifying the Motherboard, says no manufacturer name anywhere only thing I can see is "RoHS" next to the bios. Theres a white sticker though with this informtion:

"M/B: MBS870900173201079EK00"

Kind regards,
Tharok

try emailing biosman.com with that info and ask for a pre flashed chip , give them your machine model etc and they will probably be able to help you out

I'm having the same issue as pgilmore above, in that I'm attempting to upgrade from Vista to Win7, and after it was all said and done, I rebooted to nothing more than 'Verifying DMI Pool Data'. After a couple more times it popped up saying that windows\inf\biosinfo.inf was corrupt or missing, so when I brought up a dos window I noticed the file was completely gone.

My BIOS version is R02-A3S1 - is anything offered here compatible? I'm on the Aspire M5100-B5302A, and to my frustration there is NOTHING on Acer's site under the 5100 model for BIOS. Please help as I'm stuck, and this forum has been the closest thing I've found after many searches to getting anywhere near a fix.
