hi, i'd like to be able to over clock my computer with this bios

the bios uploaded is the bios thats running on this machine right now, all i want is an option so i can change the processor speed, therefore over clock this computer, my current specs are

6gb ram
2.33GHZ INTEL CORE 2 QUAD 8200

Most motherboards have options for overclocking. You change bus speeds and voltages etc. general rule for CPU speed, FSB speed * CPU multiplier = CPU Speed.

It is not a case of simply just specifying a new CPU speed.

I suggest you do some further reading on the many overclocking sites, as there can be a lot to take in especially with newer quad core systems.

As i was unable to open up the bios for modding , you might be staring right at the options

Try taking some photos of the bios options you have now and then we can tell you if you already have the overclocking options

I myself , have an Acer Aspire M5630 which is a very similar model and i already had CPU FSB option to change Big Grin

How did you do? I have the exact same computer but I don't have a section that is meant for overcloking...even in the frequency/voltage control panel in the bios...(Acer Aspire M5630)

Thats odd indeed as i own an Acer Aspire M5630 and i can overclock without any modding Tongue

Go to frequency/voltage control , set CPU Overclocking Function to Enabled and then the options to change FSB are available on that screen , use the + and - keys to move the FSB up and down

I have the Acer Aspire M5700 as well except with Intel Q8300 and 4GB RAM. I have tried to overclock this computer, but under frequency/voltage control, there is no CPU Overclocking function. There are only 2 options, both of which are either enable or disable.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking at? I can't find it after going through the entire BIOS.

By the way, the BIOS is from American Megatrends Inc. The version is R01-A1 from the date 10/08/2008 on an Acer EG45M motherboard.
