Asus P5K-E Wifi AP

(01-03-2011, 02:15 PM)Dansolo Wrote: pcunite, do you have a SSD? If so then please use RAID mode. To do so, run RAIDFix (linked in my sig), reboot and enable RAID, then go into Windows and install the latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers. If you do not have a SSD then RAID mode is not so important. RAIDFix will not force you to stay in RAID mode, and you can switch back if you want to.

I do have an SSD, currently booting from an Intel X25-M 80Gb, with 2 WD20EARS 2TB drives for data. I don't RAID anything currently, instead using some custom software to sync everything.

Why should I use RAID mode as opposed to ACHI?

Hmm, I was going to say that you'd gain TRIM, but it looks like the AHCI drivers in Win7 have TRIM... if you're using Win7. But all of the SSD benchmarks that people post seem to show the best speed results in RAID mode.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

Ahh, okay. I'm using Intel's Matrix Storage drivers which they list as working for ACHI installs. Indeed it speed things up vs. using Windows 7 x64 defaults. Currently the latest is 10.1.0.1008 and TRIM works.

Is it possible to make a 1305 with latest intel 10, and the marvel and other updates as well? WOULD BE SUPER APPRECIATED. having some issues that was told this would fix.. please help if you can

Thanks for the awesome new P5K-E bios - new SSD recognized now. Could someone please update the p5k-e-1305-raid96-jmb10801.rom (linked above) with the attached intel 10.5.0.1034 orom? I've read that it works and am willing to give it a try.

I thought I should report that this BIOS image worked for me too. Thanks.

I means I can use my shiny new Crucial M4 SSD with the SATA devices in RAID mode. Specifically, I am booting from the SATA drive and have 4 x 500GB HDDs in a RAID5 configuration.

My previous ROM plus some additional changes:

Intel Matrix RAID 10.5.1034 (supports booting from >2TB GPT partitions)
JMicron JMB363 1.07.25 (1.08.01 is OLD and I am not going to use it anymore as a result)

Untested

Thanks very much - but it doesn't work. Looks like the 9.6 Intel ROM may be the last one for the P5K-E. (I haven't tried other 10.x versions, but my guess is they won't work either.) Anyway, thanks again!

EDIT**** It does work - I hadn't enabled RAID first time.... (Duh.)

I'm currently succesfully using a ROM image that incorporates the 10.1 Intel Option ROM. I found this ROM on another forum.

WAIT! I was WRONG. Your BIOS with the latest 10.5 Intel Raid ROM DOES work on my P5K-E. (Helps if you enable RAID. DUH.)

Thanks again for your updates!
