Clevo P775TM1-G BIOS
#61
Hello. I have a Clevo P775TM1-G, running BIOS 1.07.16. with i7 8700K and RTX 2080.
Both 1.05.11 (stock) and 1.07.16 have a bug that is not documented = if BIOS is set to Legacy, the max CPU speed is forced to 800MHz.

Also current BIOS has blacklist for Windows 7 bootloader = 0xc00000d code when booting even live image of Windows 7 in UEFI, with SECURE BOOT disabled.
Windows 7 ran fine on stock bios and GTX 1060 but I have upgraded and was forced to also update the bios which has the above issue.

I'm looking to:
-install/boot Windows 7 either on current BIOS or stock. I have a CH341A programmer to flash it back to stock if needed but stock does not have RTX cards support
-get rid of the bug. I have no issue running on Legacy mode if performance is not impacted
-add RTX support for original BIOS
-someone to add the DEVID to nvidia drivers to be able to install it on Windows 7 and 8.1 . I have tried and failed
-unlock it? Have no idea of the benefits of this. Someone please explain

Please let me know how much of the above if possible and of course payment.

Thank you

edit: after days of troubleshooting, I found the issue: current BIOS does NOT have CSM support for UEFI, which is why Windows 7 cannot boot. Legacy boots and works but only in 640x480 16 color mode
edit 2: MarkyScoob from here ran into the same issue: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-C...IOS?page=6 and seems to just need an unlocked BIOS

edit 3: fixed all of the above with Baked BIOS instantly. Feels like it should've come like this from the factory, especially for a 4,000$ machine.

Thank you anyway. Cheers!

Hi feluchi & friends

I Have a BIG problem.

I have a P775TM1, i7-8700K, GTX1070 & currently 32GB RAM ...
After removing the 8GB already installed in In socket #1, under the keyboard, (WTF) & installing the 32GB unther the bottom case cover...unfortunately I have disconnected the CMOS battery.

Going back to the versions: BIOS 1.05.03 EC 1.05.02
Now it does not recognize the M2 SSD disk where I have the OS and some other software licenses.

I NEED
upgrade to the latest version of BIOS to try to get it to recognize the M2 disk booting (and I am not an expert).

1) I have downloaded the latest versions of BIOS and EC
2) I created a bootable USB with Rufus and copied inside the BIOS 1.07.29 files.

DOUBTS

3) BIOS 1.07.29 is the unlocked one that everyone was looking for?
4) Do I have to update ALSO the EC?
5) Does the EC flashing prior to the BIOS flashing ?
6) Can I go directly from 1.05.03 to 1.07.29 ?
7) The flashing of the P775TM1 model does not come in the instruction txt...so do I need to make another USB boot with the EC files?

All help (especially a sequential help) will be welcome...really.

Wow feluchi...many thanks,

3) from Lenovo? not from CLEVO? I'm missing something?

just to finish:

EC1-R1.07.16 or EC2-R1.07.02 ?
I don't know the differences between EC1 and EC2.

What speed does the RAM have? If you exceed 2600MHz system will be unstable.
Also, if it's a dual-channel kit, one stick needs to be under the keyboard and the other under the bottom cover. Clevo specs, check your manual at page 344

"Channel A = RAM 1 & RAM 3 slots
Channel B = RAM 2 & RAM 4 slots"

EC 1.07xx has *stupid fan curve and in my case, was not mandatory to update.
Good news is that you can downgrade EC anytime without bricking your system.

Again, this was for me, please correct me if this isn't the case for TM-1 non-G

Please read the below for details, I try to explain as much as I can

*stupid fan curve = in 1.05xx fan curve for GPU and CPU is gradual and fans run most of the time and slowly but steadily increase with temperature, keeping the system cool at all times.

In EC 1.07xx fan curve is set as a rollercoaster =  0% until GPU reaches 68C and CPU reaches 65C. While this makes the system more silent when NOT under load, GPU temp exceeds 80C by the time the fan starts and  ramps up enough to cool it down and then it goes back to 0% at 67C, which not only causes temperature spikes but makes it annoying to hear the fan constantly change speed in the span of a couple of seconds.

Thanks feluchi & UzY3L

all RAM sticks are 2666.
I've just bought 2 x "Crucial RAM CT16G4SFRA266 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz CL19" which I will add according to the manual.
now I have 2x16 GB ballistix sport installed also according manual (unther the bottom case).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have successfully upgraded to EC 1.07.16. with (USB boot freeDOS)

But when I try to update the BIOS using C:> FlashMeWinx64.bat

"This program cannot be run in MS-DOS Mode".

Anyone who can comment?

Try going back to the old stick of RAM or keeping just 1 stick inside, see if that helps with the SSD issue. How big is your nvme SSD? My stock BIOS had no issues with 2TB nvme SSDs and 2TB SATA SSDs.
Try changing to another slot if available.

Also, your Rufus DOS USB  will not help here. Neither will a Windows-to-go USB since flashing the BIOS modifies the boot sequence and trying to update the BIOS like this will not work (I've tried).

You will need another SSD/HDD on which to install windows, run a command prompt as administrator, navigate to the folder where FlashMeWinx64.bat is located and run it from there.

P.S.: Memory Channel A = RAM 1 & RAM 3 slots
RAM 1 = top-most slot under the keyboard
RAM 3 = top-most slot under the back cover

or if this is easier to follow: under the keyboard are RAM 1 and RAM 2, under the back cover are RAM 3 and RAM 4 slots

For dual-channel to work properly you need 1 stick of RAM in the top-most slot under the keyboard and 1 stick of RAM under the top-most slot under the back cover.

If you look at the motherboard, they are also numbered, this is why I mentioned going with just 1 stick of ram for troubleshooting this issue.

Putting both sticks of RAM under the back cover or putting both sticks under the keyboard will still enable dual-channel but it's against manufacturer specs = do it at your own risk and don't complain about issues if you do

To recognize your m2 SSD, just go in bios setup menu, go to Security tab, check "Secure Boot" option, if it Disabled, then set it to Enabled. Then go to "Exit" tab, and save settings.

Thanks guys, but even with "secure boot". the BIOS detects the M2 but system cannot boot from there...

NOW Im focused in update BIOS...

After the update to EC 1.07.16... I've tried to update the BIOS to 1.07.29 and after to 1.05.13 (using command promt as admin from windows).
with the same disappointing results (see below)

ME fw 11.7.4.3314 & considering to update the ME fw to 11.8.50.3434 (latest)...and after try again BIOS to 1.07.29

any comments before doing so?
