put the files into a flash drive, boot from flashdrive and run the .bat file.. after that go into bios and reset to defaults and disable floppy drive..
Thanks for that nuhkka. Won't be able to try it till the weekend, I'll let you know how I get on.
yeah gl, i havent tried it myself yet, i dont even know hwo to make a bootable usb drive, im guessing you do this:
* Open the HP Format Tool Start/Programs/Hewlett-Packard Company/HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool * It should automatically select your USB Drive. * Select FAT or FAT32 Under File System. * Select Create a DOS startup disk * Select using DOS system files located at and point to the folder containing the boot disk files. * Then click Start
i guess you highlight the folder with the files in it, heres the tool:
im still trying to figure out if i can do this with my current vista partion, then boot into vista and use some slic verification tool to see what slic i have and if the 2.1 flashed installed correctly, then if it during win7 install do you use a key or something?
Well I think I've managed to flash it correctly with some help from my son. My main problem was not including the extension to the binary file (.bin) when flashing from dos, which resulted in nothing happening after pressing return (simple when it's pointed out to you). I used the modded file link from Busykid508 and flashed it in dos mode with "awd873.exe". I tried to verify it in Vista but it shows slic 2.0. I then checked it after loading Hiren's bootcd 10 and booting up the P.E version of windows this then showed slic 2.1. Big thanks to Busykid508 for the link.

ERROR do not have permission to access this file so how do we obtain it? does this bios add memory and fsb control options? dell inspiron 530s thanks
Note that this link is exactly the same as the one on the dell support site i think , as we did manage to unlock hidden features on the 530 bios (Only because this has an Award bios not a Phoenix one!) but we couldnt get it to stay stable (IT hada 100% failure rate out of 5 trys and we removed it)
I will not be held responsible for anything that may go wrong with your BIOS, and by downloading a modded bios you are held responsible for what you choose to do with it.
