General method to remove whitelist from Insyde BIOS

Don't know why your lappy is dead and bssayeda's and dieburnbot's are fine. Anyway to revive you need to use the original stock flasher, unpack it and copy the 01651.fd file to the root of a usb stick and rename it to 01651.BIN, then boot the lappy with stick inserted and Win+B key pressed before power it on.

Thanks a lot!

I tried that and nothing is happening. Is there some sort of sequence you need to follow and what should i look for? Thanks!

Create this folder structure in the USB Stick

x:\HEWLETT-PACKARD\BIOS\CURRENT

x is the letter of your USB stick, and copy the 01651.BIN file in the CURRENT subfolder, then try again booting with Win+B keys pressed.

There was activity light on usb drive for 30 seconds or so, and caps lock button stopped blinking during that time, then it resumed to blink and nothing else is happening. The screen is dark, no usb activity and the caps lock is still blinking Sad

hmmm, i think you must delete the uefi partition of the HD. Take it out of the laptop and connect to another PC, look into the UEFI partition if you locate the 01651.BIN and delete it, or completely delete the partition. Then try again the usb stick.

Before doing that try powering the notebook with the stick inserted and all 4 arrows pressed instead Win+B key.

I just wanted to confirm that your modded bios worked perfectly. I installed the 6230 wlan card in my laptop this morning and it booted right up and everything works great. Thanks again!

As for ozzynyc, I'm not sure, but part of me thinks it isn't the UEFI partition, because when I flashed mine with the UEFI partition in place it wouldn't even let me flash the bios. It would sit on do not turn off your computer and never reboot.

I had to go into windows 7 disk management and delete the partition that is called "HPTOOLS" before it would flash for me. Maybe if he unplugged it and took the battery out, put everything back together, it might reset it?

Luckily i was still within grace return period, so i swapped it out for the new one. Deleted hptools partition and ran the exe. The keyboard/mouse wouldn't respond. Hooking up wireless usb mouse allowed me to proceed and select yes. It went through and rebooted just fine. Installed Intel Centrino 6205 card and everything looks good. Thanks everyone for your help! Big Grin

Okay, I've read thru the posts talking about the dm4, and while I'm fairly computer savvy, I've never even attempted to mess with flashing a bios. But I'm desperate since my sweet CTO dm4 couldn't come with a better wireless card, I purchased a 6200 to put into it to have the dual band functionality, but freaking out at the chance of bricking it. Can someone please post a detailed step by step on how to exactly do this? Sounds like there's been multiple successes with reflashing the dm4 bios, so I feel more confident it won't brink, AS LONG AS I DO IT RIGHT... That's the part I'm afraid of...

Would someone be kind enough to do that... then maybe I'll feel confident enough to do it.

Thanks!
