Gigabyte X48-DQ6 F8i bios mod
#1
Hello,
Can anyone help me with modding Gigabyte X48-DQ6 F8i bios (1MB)?
In the past (K8NSNXP and others) I used cbrom .
Right know I whant to add new Realtek LAN and JMB ROM:
BIOS: http://oldforum.gigabyte.de/forumdownloa...X48DQ6.zip
JMB: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/SATA_Control....07.28.zip
Realtek (PXE ROM code 2.44): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
and Intel AHCI driver if newest the 1.20E (I can't find).
I used cbrom as aways but before flashing Qflash says "Invalid Bios Image".
OK. Then I tried @BIOS 2.10 and it successfully flashed bios but after reboot I get black screen with BIOS Auto Recovering.
OK. Then I tried to flash bios starting with old bios F6,F7... with no option "Keep DMI Data" and in this situation Q-Flash updated bios but after that I still got black screen with BIOS Auto Recovering.
I want to put some new part of bios X48-DQ6 and put here after testing but bios is always recovering. I don't whant to do any hardware mods. Strange. How bios F8i was builed? I don't have problems with this upgrade.
Thanks for help.

Hi.
I am curious which version of Intel OROM is built in this BIOS F8i.
See my thread.
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Re...6-OROM-Mod
I think X38 and X48 don't have big difference.

Inside bios F8i is file ICH9RAID.891 so I think it's 8.91.
I read that you have the same situation as me.

Does anyone can help me or tell a few words is it possible or how to star do it?
The most important to me is renew JMB driver.

Try this:

Intel Matrix RAID 8.9.1 -> 10.8.0
JMicron JMB363 1.07.28
Realtek PXE 2.44 (this is really pretty useless but I did it anyway)

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

Thank you.
I changed file name to X48dq6m.F8i (MD5 6cb6625b60eecc1b21beea6b308d082b)
When I started flashing I've got message "Invalid Bios Image".
Look attachement.

Try Flashing with FlashSPI from DOS instead of QFlash.

The same critical message "MAIN BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR" as my before tries. Uff bios recovered successfull. I think it's a problem with number of bios. Maybe when it will be modded bios with a new version F8j it will works ... but not modded by changing in HEX editor version but ... I think in some other place version is written (sum control).

Did the Original BIOS f8i work Before the ROMS were updated ??
That MB/Chipset might Not be compatible with the Newer OROMs.
You might need to use the 9.5 or 9.6 IRST OROM in that BIOS or even revert to an Earlier Beta BIOS and Update the ROMS in that older Beta.

Can you explain what is OROM and IRST and these versions 9.5/9.6?
As I understood you I wrote on top that "Then I tried to flash bios starting with old bios F6,F7... with no option "Keep DMI Data" and in this situation Q-Flash updated bios but after that I still got black screen with BIOS Auto Recovering."
