HP COMPAQ Iris8 with Unlocked Overclocking Options
Well there are a few others that we know work, but they have the same lack of Phenom support. The major issue is that the nettle bios chip is only 512KB while the same chipset boards that supported phenom are 1024KB

say i got a new bios chip that was 1024kb would it work if i programmed it with the other hacked bios for similar boards that have phenom support?

so... i got the sata connectors on but the bios doesnt seem to support the other two. I was mistaken before when the stock bios shows 4 drives the first 2 arent sata like i origionally thought. I think if i get a 1024 bios put on this thing it would work with 4 satas and phenom support. anyone have an old board sitting around that could take the bios chip off of for cheap?

This is the same bios as on the nettle2 unlock page. Does this disable two of the sata ports on that board? because if all four ports work on that board with this bios than this isnt a bios issue at all but a hardware issue at which point i will just give up. If this bios came from an abit bios that only had two ports i would expect my extra two to not work without proper software. Im going to try flashing the stock nettle2 bios to see if that does anything for me.

just to give an answer:
It'll support any AM2/AM2+ with a TDP-rating below 83W...
so far...

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

Got a question will these bios mods work on a SR5510F (has the iris8 MCP61PM-HM 1.0B motherboard with the two memory slots and the two sata headers (two not soldered on)
cause I'm having the known issue that the board will not boot with two memory sticks, hoping if I find a working modded bios (this thing has an x2 5000 installed from factory) that I might be able to bump the memory voltage or lax the timing or something that will enable me two run two memory sticks again Smile.
Because I just want to use this as a computer for visitors it's by far not my main, I'm hoping I could fix the memory issue this way.
It's the weirdest mem issue I've ever run in to both sticks work perfectly alone in either slot, so it's not a slot or defective memory issue, just as a pair it just won't do any more.
Let me know if this bios should work and if it's got timing and memory voltage options Smile

Since the Athlon 2 X2 245 works, would the 250 work as well? I believe it will, considering the 65W TDP, AM3 socket and whatnot.

Thanks in advance.

I just upgraded the bios (M613Z_19.BIN) found on the 1st page.
I've set the BIOS as instructed before booting.
But it would not work with Phenom 8450 and Athlon II x2 240. I just get a blank screen and cannot access BIOS on boot.

But it does work with the existing Sempron 3800+ CPU
Can it support 4gb + 4gb, or 1 piece 8gb ram?

Can someone advise ?

First, thank you for all the great information on this site, very impressive!  Second, I am hoping that you can help me.  I have a HP Compaq Presario (SN5110NX) with the IRIS MoBo version 1.0.   I've had it forever and its been kicked around the house for a number of years with my wife and then the kids.  I was about to finally toss it but I thought I could use it for something if I upgrade it and I hate throwing out something that still works.  So, let me give you the starting config, where I am and then where I would like to go.   Again, I'm hoping I can get some help along the way.

Starting point:
I have a Athlon X2 64 4800+ with 3GB RAM (1 x 2GB and 1 x 1GB).   I've updated from Vista (Home Basic) 32 bit to 64bit.  BTW, I used the OEM license and brought a startup disk for $7 on ebay to install the 64bit.  I also have a Gbit ethernet PCI card and a PCIE Radeon Graphics card.

Current status:
I updated to the 5.27 BIOS from the HP website and that worked perfectly.   I replaced the RAM with a 4GB x 1.  Vista booted up and recognized the 4GB.  I then updated the BIOS (M613Z_19.BIN) with instructions included here (from DOS) and changed the BIOS settings (only difference is that HPET was under a different menu in BIOS).   Thank you for the great instructions!

Issue 1:   I played around and found that when I put the 4GB in the first slot Vista did not come up.  But it always comes up when the 4GB is in the 2nd slot.  When I put the second 4GB in the 1st slot Vista crashed (BSOD).  However, during initial boot and in the BIOS it recognizes the 8GB.   When I boot in safe mode it comes up and Windows recognizes the 8GB.

Question 1: I know the specs say that it will only handle 4GB but I was wondering if anyone has solved this issue?  BTW, for an experiment I put in my 2GB stick (PC2-5300) along side the 4GB stick (PC2-6400) and during boot it only recognized 4GB at the 667Mhz speed (5300 speed) but Vista came up and it said 6GB RAM installed.   Almost seems like the 1st slot has an issue??

Question 2:   I have the fan noise problem referenced in the directions, how do I get rid of it?  I couldn't find the instructions.

Question 3:  If I can get these other issues worked out, I am going to try and get a Phenom II 910e to work on this board (65W).   Anyone try that or thinks it may work?

Side note, I noticed when Vista did come up with 4GB in 2nd slot (nothing in 1st slot) it asked for a coprocessor driver.  Vista could not find one online.  I determined that it was actually the chipset that needed a driver and got a version from ECS which worked and the issue went away.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!!
