Off topic question from someone who has been reading this forum for years.
I run a chat for PC tinkerers: overclocking, BIOS settings, flashing old motherboards, that kind of thing. It grew to about 350 people, and the best members are the ones who stay and help others recover a bricked board at 2am.
Most of those helpers were invited by a small group of regulars. We wanted to reward the regulars, but the invite counts made no sense, because a lot of people joined for one specific fix and left as soon as their machine booted again.
We now use a tracker that ignores the people who leave right away, and it shows quite clearly who brings in members that stay and contribute.
Anyone else here running a hardware help group? Curious how you keep people around once their problem is solved.
