oh trust me I figured it was a false positive. As much as I love McAfee I know they are infamous for false positive results

also I have a question. I am building myself a new pc from scratch and my dad wants a quad-core I was wondering if it would be possible to run a Quad-core Phenom II at 125w socket AM2+ on this board? it would be this chip to be exact

Nooo way. 125W will just burn the moptherboard. Rather, a 65 W Phenom II 910e may yeild successful results. We have tested 95W phenoms with some success (see tango wishkeys report in one of the threads)

not even if I replaced the power supply? because I can't seem to find any 65w Phenom II's on newegg

The power supply has nothing to do with the amount of TDP a motherboard can handle. You may be able to get away with ne of the 95W models though.

you mean something like this triple core?

and I should be able to keep the current power supply correct?

plus I looked on ebay for the Phenom II 910e idk if the description was correct but it said it was a AM3 socket processor is that correct?

Yeah the one you linked should be able to run (haven't officially confirmed though). As for the 910e even though its AM3 it should be backwards compatible with the AM2 socket (just lower HTT link)

what do you men by lower the link and holy crap that bios gave AM3 socket support too? so then technically this quad core should work too?

Like I said, the quad cores should mostly work. Am2/ and am2+ sockets are inherintedly am3 compatible, its just the bios support. Look around on the nettle2 thread and you'll see despite the 965 having outrageous 125W requirements, we were able to get it to boot and be detected Smile I'll try and get those test results posted soon.

HT link is how fast the proc. communicates with the chipset. (Wiki search HT 1.0-3.0 for speeds) One limitation of the AM3 cpus on an older socket is less HT spec, but its not a big deal.

are you kidding me? does that mean I could get the 965 for this mobo?

Well it detects the CPU, that's about it. Once you get into windows it drags worse than a single core because it draw WAY to much from such a measley socket on these boards. I'd stick to 95W and under Smile
