HP Disabled Whitelist Mega Thread!
Hi, nice forum... Big Grin

I have a dv2715nr (AMD) I don't have the previous card ID because I bough only the motherboard from ebay.

the bios for dv2715nr is here:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52272.exe

The wifi card is a bcm94311mcag. It's from other dv2008ea (AMD) that has the motherboard dead.

Can you do it for me? Or how I do it by my self??
thanks Smile

[EDIT]

I found a guide here, but where is the DUMP folder? :|
find

what do we have here, a bios link and a question: where is the DUMP folder.
How to answer?

I found the dump folder, It's automaticly created by Phoenix tool v1.82...

1.it's possible to flash it on DOS with a pendrive?

2. looking at your Guide: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP...ead?page=3
Do I have to use the sp49449.exe or my bios exe Confusedp52272.exe ? Because I extracted the WinFlash from my file and I don't know witch .rom file to modify...the name are short and different :|

Also on the tool, after extracting the files on Status were written: EFI/Insyde Bios and not Phoenix like my bios...

But on the first file ACPI0.AML extracted in Dump folder I searched the "WLAN" and found "Neigher WLAN nor BT" on line 878, and on line 843 "Get WMIWLAN status===[strange caracterters]"

[EDIT 1]

I found the string 0F 85 81 00 00 00 on file "MOD_4B00.ROM" and I replaced 0F 85 with 90 E9. After I pressed ok on Andy's tool it said the "Unable to reintegrate MOD_4B00.ROM" :|

3. The bioses from the first page are universal of just for specific machines? Can I download a .WPH file from there and test it on my HP dv2715nr laptop?
find
Bios are specific for each model.
Except if you know exactly what you are doing and i'm afraid that by modifying any modules with values without any significations will brick the laptop.

I tried to use Apply Endeer's phnxpatch to find the WLAN and patch the module of WLAN card, did not found anything...tried with 3 versions of bios for this model, nothing...

Fron Andy tool, if I check "Remove Manufacter other limitation" in Advanced, it could be risky?
Did you try it before? Does it works?

find
i already spend some time to modify this bios (30D6F28.WPH) with no success. i've not figure out to remove the whitelist protection.
A PCI ID substitution can be made in whithelist (module MOD_5100.ROM) but you must know the VEN, DEV, SUBSYS of the new card.

note: Endeer's phnxpatch is for some lenovo models

I tried to find those fields in the module MOD_5100.ROM but I was not able to find them :|

Hardware ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1361103C&REV_01

thanks you for all your help

[EDIT 1]
I was looking on the hp.com and the wifi card what had before is a Broadcom, only b/g, the new one is a/b/g.

Also, on ebay the old card should be this one, but I am not sure

I don't know if you from the pictures you can extract some information...
find
the whithelist is at address 84C5h in MOD_5100.ROM

Code:

thanks, it worked!
I used http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/phlash16.exe to flash it.
Made like 20 beep while updating the bios in DOS mode, scared me a little... Big Grin

You can ad my bios as "whitelist disabled! Rolleyes

find
I'm a little off-topic...
Can be that the new motherboard did not recognize the DVD-ROM? same IDE interface, It spins but neigher I can boot, not windows 7 recognize it...can be again a limitation from BIOS?
