HP Pro 3330 Microtower (BIOS Mod Request for Installing Graphics Card)
#1
Hello, I'm new here.

I just found out recently that my motherboard (HP Pro 3330 MT) probably has a BIOS restriction that only allows certain models of graphics cards. Due to this, I can't install any graphics card, even if it's old. Unless, if I buy one of the listed graphics card models they put on their website, although I'm not so sure about that. I have two cards lying around. I bought them because I thought it would work.

Turning on the computer with the card installed will result in either 6 beeps or silence. No display at all.

A guy on this forum had the same problem like mine, but he has an HP Pro 3300 MT, then he got his BIOS modded, so he can install graphics card.

A simple solution would be to just get a new motherboard, but in times like this (the coronavirus), I can't go to work so I have to conserve my money during my staying home.

So can anyone help me to do this? The ROM file is attached. And it's the only BIOS update available from HP. What do I need to get in order to flash the BIOS? How do I begin? What do I need to do? I've never done any of this yet I want to learn.

Thank you very much in advance.

Ivan.

Try to change Advanced->PCI Subsystem Settings->PCI ROM Priority from EFI Compatible ROM to Legacy ROM.

If it's not available in BIOS then try to change it in EFI GRUB Shell
1. Take USB stick and format to FAT32
2. Create directory structure EFI\Boot
3. Download and unzip bootx64.7z
4. Put BOOTX64.EFI to Boot directory.
5. Boot from this USB stick
6. Run command:
setup_var 0x21 0x0
7. Make and post a photo of the screen.
