How do I replace the intel option rom in my system firmware
#1
I have an Asus AT5NM10-I which has an on board LVDS connector.
I have connected a screen I ripped out of an old laptop to the LVDS connector. The problem is that this screen does not send any EDID information to the computer.

The screen native resolution is 1024x768
While running the intel-devel tools I find out that the embedded intel firmware option rom defaults to 1366x768 as the native resolution when no EDID is detected. This results in a thick black border on the left side of the screen when running in 1024x768 mode and the right part of the image is outside the screen. For 1366x768 the left side is aligned with the screen, but since I only have 1024 pixels across the screen, the right side of the screen is lost.

I have created a new VBIOS using the Configuration editor (CED) for the Intel Embedded Graphics Driver (IEGD) that have 1024x768 as the native resolution.

However I have no clue how to merge this option rom with my system firmware. It does not look like this is possible with the Ami bcp 3.46

If anyone know what I need to do I will be very happy :-)
Ooops, I should have posted this in the "modding request" forum, I'm terrible sorry....

Please provide a link to the BIOS download, you can find this on the manufacturers website.

Thanks.

Dear Mick and all forum members,
can i continue this thread?
because i have similar problem, so, instead of make a new thread, i think its better to continuing this one.

the point is:
i need to add an EDID data into my bios since there are no one of preinstalled EDID data in the bios suitable with my lvds screen resolution (1024x600). and there are no option in the bios to upload any custom EDID data.

motherboard: Gigabyte H77TN rev1.0
bios: Aptio AMI EFI 2.15.1229
gigabyte original bios version: f2 ( http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...=4458#bios )
rw file: https://app.box.com/s/ufoy86ukzem1duvqlmjh
system bios version: 4.6

screen panel: hannstar hsd1001fw1
the EDID data at the last pages of datasheet: http://www.datasheet4u.com/datasheet/H/S...r.pdf.html

last condition:
i try to make .inf file with this panel EDID to override the driver (i use windows7 sp1) and i found that intel hd graphics doesnt support EDID override method.

the best one that i can do is use 1024x768 EDID from the bios. it makes the screen works, but i cant see the lower part of the screen (windows task bar) since i "lost" 168pixel of vertical size.

so i think, i have no other choice except modding the bios. but i have no any experience to mod the bios. Sad

please give me a guidance how to solve this problem....

Best Regards,
Erwin
