Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad X60 7BUJ27US Lenovo 2.1 SLIC *WHITELISTED*
#1
Hello,
I know that there was another request of this bios mod here, which was already satisfied:

Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad X60 7BUJ27US Lenovo 2.1 SLIC
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Le...3#pid22793

But my problem is that I had to change the internal WI-FI card and now the bios stops me with a 1802 error and cannot use the wifi anymore.
Is it possible for you to modify the bios again, with also clearing the whitelist wifi verification? Thanks...

In the meantime,if you want me to help by providing a modified bios then please reply to this post with details of existing wireless card and the new card. The info I'll need is the VEN_ ,DEV_ and SUBSYS_ id's.. Follow the steps below to get this information.

1. Remove existing wireless card from laptop, leave the access cover off.
2. Boot laptop and enter boot selection screen.
3. Install new card (whilst laptop is running), no need connect antenna wires.
4. Boot into windows and new card will appear as unknown device.
5. Now you can obtain exact ven, dev & subsys id's from device properties

We need this information for both your new card and the card that is currently in the machine.

hello admin,
finally after some troubles I can give you the details you need.
Original Bios from Lenovo site: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj27us.exe

This is the wifi card my thinkpad x60 originally has installed:
VEN_8086&DEV_4227&SUBSYS_10108086&REV_02
Wireless 3945ABG

and this is the NEW card I want to install in my x60:
VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_7108144F&REV_01
Atheros AR5006X

I hope you can help in making a 2.1 slic bios with the above atheros card whitelisted for it.
thanks in advance and sorry for the delay in reply

really sorry but i still cant figure out how to get the whitelist changes to stick , they keep changing back Sad

I did however do the SLIC mod

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/Lenovo%20...34s282.zip

1. Copy and paste ******.XRM-MS certificate file into C-Drive.

2. After pasting this file into C-Drive, go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - COMMAND PROMPT. Right click on Command Prompt and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

3. When Command Prompt opens, type at the prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\********.xrm-ms and hit the Enter Button. Wait for the Script Host to answer you with a message that the license was installed successfully....this could take a few minutes and so be patient.

4. After receiving the message that the license was installed successfully, type at the command prompt:

slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** (Replace with any OEM SLP Product Key for your installed version of Windows 7 , they are not hard to find).Be Patient and wait for the message to say that the Product Key was successfully installed. After it says successfully installed, reboot the computer.

5. When you are back at your desktop, go to START - COMPUTER - right click on Computer and choose PROPERTIES and see if it is activated with an OEM product ID.

Hi admin, I was able to get a BIOS mod for X60,
completely whitelisted, but WITHOUT SLIC 2.1....
I have just installed it, and it works with atheros card (no more error at boot!) ... but I cannot make oem win7 because this bios does not have slic 2.1 Sad can you maybe add slic to that image?

the problem is that I have it only in ISO format.... it's a bootable ISO image which loads the new bios automatically.
Can you extract the bios image from that ISO file? If yes, tell me that I will upload the file!
thanks

UPDATE: never mind anymore, TTAV made it !! Wink

Hi Layla and others,

I just installed Windows 7 and it's working, but I haven't gone through the SLIC trickery yet. I am happy to reinstall if necessary. However, what I want to know is if I too upgrade my wifi adapter currently an Intel 3945 ABG. I am going to try this wireless Atheros AR5BXB72 Wireless N Adapter which sounds what Layla has:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180541266831?ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFFX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1427.l2649

If I don't activate Windows until the new card is installed will I be able to use the SLP license? Or am I stuck using my 3945ABG? I just don't want to waste $15 bucks on a wireless adapter I won't ever be able to use. Again, I don't mind reinstalling Win7 Ultimate, but I don't want to waste a bunch of time if it'll never work with the newer Atheros Adapter, which I believe is already a trusted part by Lenovo, I'm not sure if Layla's part is a lenovo authorized part or not.

Thanks,
Octagon
