Lenovo Tninkpad 14 (E40) type 0578-A19: Update microcode
#1
Hi, Guys!

I'm have a bios backup with the help of the universal bios backup toolkit 2.0 program. My laptop is Lenovo Tninkpad 14 (E40) type 0578-A19 (Motherboard chipset: Intel Ibex Peak-M HM55, Intel Ironlake-M). I'm replaced the processor (i3 330m -> i7 840qm (cpuid: 106E5)) and the laptop starts, but there is an error of BSOD 0x000000a5 (BIOS is not ACPI). I'm think you need to update the microcode in the BIOS. I'm sticking a link to the BIOS and the microcodes that I would like to update in the BIOS. microcodes that I would like to update (cpuid): 20652 and 106E5.
Could you help me?
P.S. I didn’t succeed in updating via sbrom (ver. 1.55 and older version), maybe you can help me if you are not difficult or tell me how to do it.

There are two bios backup through winphlash64 and the Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0. I'm don’t know how they differ, but the sizes are different for these BIOS backups.

BIOS type: Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6.1

CBROM + MCextractor:

Phoenix BIOS editor pro 2.2.1.3 build 3605 cannot open these backups either.

Phoenix BIOS editor pro - open file LENOVO-80ET65WW(2.05).rom:

Phoenix BIOS editor pro - open file FLASHABL.rom:

Thank you for any help! Big Grin

Some special options should be set in winphlash (official flasher) ?

MС Extraсtor (v1.42.1 r142) program displays that: $0A80000.FL1 (1/1) File does not contain CPU microcodes.

Cbrom and Phoenix BIOS editor pro programs do not open this file. Did you edit the hex-editor?

Offical flasher is WINUPTP.exe from 80uj37us.exe
$0A80000.FL1 has compressed format.

Thanks Big Grin
When you install 80uj37us. exe in the root directory is just winflash.
And can you please write how to look at this microcodes in this firmware?
How could you edit this firmware? With all the programs known to me, I'm did not succeed =)

You are wrong. It creates many files, including WINUPTP.exe and $0A80000.FL1

Thank you very much for what you are doing for me.
I'm didn't mean to bother you, but I'm have a problem. I'm just can not flash using WINUPTP.EXE. As I'm understand it, you need to do this:
WINUPTP.EXE /S and the file $0A80000.FL1 should be nearby, but I'm have an error:

Code:
OS = Windows 7 64bit
Driver Loading....Done
System BIOS Version -> 80ET65WW
Applying BIOS Version -> 80ET65WW
AC adapter/Battery check....Failed.
Error : Your battery needs to be charged to avoid an accidental power-off during an update.

I'm read how to use the PHLASH16.EXE utility to flash the BIOS.
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...OS-PHOENIX
Is it possible to flash BIOS using this utility and using your firmware?

You can use phcomp to unpack *.FL1 to *.FLH:
phcomp /d $0A80000.FL1
and try to flash by WinPhlash or phlash16.

I'm was flashed, but the error remained. What else is strange the definition of the amount of RAM in the BIOS. I'm can’t even imagine what to do

So it's not microcode issue.
