Option ROM loaded but no boot device
#21
Nice work gabe! I think it would be really cool if you posted a detailed tutorial on your progress from the beginning up to now.

Thanks for the update,

There seems to be a problem.Maybe I break some rules?
I have replyied with a link to other forum, and with some explanations. But that message is missing now.
I'll post in near future what I do from begining to the end.

Weird, we moderate manually so I have no idea what is amiss there. In any event I'd love to see the complete work thus far.

Does the mean you use the option ROM to setup the BIOS drive table with an entry for your drive attached to e-sata card, then use grub to remap that drive and then successfully boot? Are you able to boot Windows off the drive attached to the e-sata card?

If so, that's quite an accomplishment. At boot-land forum, a user was trying to boot an expresscard SSD with no bios support, resorting to using a kicker image off USB to initiate the boot process.

Some like that.
Without using USB pen I ended to only "No bootable device found" even if option rom increased number of of BIOS disk at offset 475 (from 0 to 1) and add INT13 vector.
That because of BIOS most probablly.
I stiil can't get BIOS to have listed expresscard as a boot device but is enough for me just to have a USB pen attached. In the future I'll add this pen internal (to USB port of exxpresscard which is unused but active)
I use grub4dos and only one entry as default and 0 timeout
Code:
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
map --hook
chainloader (hd0)+1

I can boot everything from that card now.
I have setup a raid0 with 2 320G Scorpio Black.Windows (XP Vista,7) booted fine,linux same.
I read few times ago on bootland about that.I use same kicker image method until I have done.
