Has anyone found a work-around for the "error: can't set variable using efi (error: 0x000000000000001a)"?

I've tried both setup_var (setup_var & setup_var2), and both produce the same error. I've also tried the Linux efivars trick. It just seems as though the setup variable is write protected or something. Any information on this anywhere?

Hi, would it be possible to get a re-post of this file? The link is dead and I wanted to try this on my laptop as I have the same model. Also, do you know if this mod removes the wireless card white list system? It would be great to be able to use a 5ghz card in this laptop. Thanks!

 If you can unlock all hidden settings, make it to where I can use any wireless card (remove whitelist), and edit the slic to have 7/8 or 10 pro version of windows it would be awesome!
