[REQUEST] Gigabyte AORUS 15 YC Bios Unlock
#1
Heart
Hello. First of all, a huge thank you to the administrators and contributors of this forum. It is an awesome thing to see people making themselves available to help others like that.
So, like the title says, I own a AORUS 15G YC and I would like some help unlocking BIOS for undervolt purposes.
I've searched around and found out that some similar models require you to change the lock variable in the BIOS first, according to this thread.
I am too scared to try that without the word of someone more experienced saying that such procedure definitely applies to my laptop model too.
Here is the BIOS dump since I can't attach it to the thread

Hi friend, use this tool , run it as Admin and upload the result file here :

https://www.mediafire.com/file/4s2lp3ig8...0h.7z/file

Your bios :

Gigabyte Aorus 15G XC - YC - KC (VC) (RTX 30 Series)

https://www.gigabyte.com/Laptop/AORUS-15...ModelsMenu

https://www.win-raid.com/t7023f54-Reques...#msg147045

Manufacturer - GIGABYTE
Model - AORUS 15
BIOS release - FB07 02/26/2021
BIOS platform - AMI Aptio 5

NVRAM Vars (they are different)

BIOS Lock VarOffset - 0x17
FPRR VarOffset - 0x6DD

You need to use the RU shell to make this job , follow the tutorials and usse RU shell from here ...

You have to unlock eeprom before so follow the tutorial in these pages and use RU shell to unlock these variables setting them to 0x00 :

FPRR VarOffset - 0x6DD
BIOS Lock VarOffset - 0x17

You'll find under PchSetup [4570B7F1-ADE8-4943-8DC3-406472842384] GUID

Here there are the RU links and tutorials and the FPT14 to use :

@BDMaster can you please explain why the Backup Tool flagged as Trojan:Win32/Ymacco.AA5B?

Edit: also, the dump I posted is not useful?

Thank you!!

Yes friend, i will explain all here , the Serg008 (mydigitallife ukrainian modder) tool it's the scripts compilation to analyze and find
the Bios vulnerability, so make the Bios Backup too.
This is a Flase Positive as the tool try to read and write Eeprom , so UEFI and Antivirus think that it is a virus action !
You can unpack it by WinRar and see all scripts and you can run everyone by yourself by hand Wink
If i have to explain all the workaround , i have to lose many time to do that, so it's more easy to use this tool and get the result
file (you can unpack it too) and get all the informations into one shot Wink
So now do you want to make it by hand, well you have to use HWINFO64 and found on left side the ME section then upload the
photo of it or post the ME version, then according to the ME version go here and download the CSME for your system and
find into the FPT Tool to make a bios backup :

https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

https://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-C...Tools.html

Then using the Fptw.exe run this command from a CLI (command line interface) with Admin rights ... you can open
from the FPT folder using the mouse pinter , go on FILE and choice the Power Shell Admin , once runned al C:\
run cmd + ENTER and you will be into the old command interface, then run this command you have to stay into fpt x32 :

this make a bios backup

fptw.exe -d biosreg.bin -bios

this try to write the bios backup back and get errors

fptw.exe -f biosreg.bin -bios

Now you have to get the log and save to see the error and get the bios backup file "biosreg.bin" and pack them to upload to
make me possible to check and make a modify ... as i have to find a way to rewrite back the mod bios and the errors explain me if it possible and FPT say if your
PC has an Intel CPU , as i haven't your pc and cannot know, i have to find online informations and spend time , but i have not much time Sad

Now you can understand what is long and difficult this for you ... and time to write and explain for me , but i hope this will help any user who wants to understand
and make easy this job !
Let me know
Regards

P.S. i made here :

https://www.win-raid.com/t7023f54-Reques...#msg148024

Here is your (included patch) :

@mccheesy

Hi~!
Before the start of modify bios ,you need know a thing.
You need boot a usb stick(format to fat32) as uefi mode ,because we have to access Gurb shell to change offset variable ,then the modified bios just can be re-flash again.

First disable "Secure Boot " in the bios ,then download this file and unpack ,then copy folder EFI to usb stick then boot it as uefi mode. If you could see like this ,it means you're access Grub shell successfully then we can start the bios modify.

*. Refer to here to disable "Secure Boot"
