[REQUEST] ASUS FX506LU full unlock
#51
Hi guys.
Did it work for the person who started this thred the "nomnoum" ? Did he actually managed to flash his comp with your mod Steve?
Looks like ASUS made more effort this time to lock us out from accessing hidden functions and performing BIOS Flashes..
And i very much doubt they (ASUS) would share the way of how to unlock anything ...

Uh... I performed the mod but they never replied when I asked for a second dump to verify BIOS dump consistency so I never uploaded the mod lol

I am going to do the FLOCKDN check tomorrow as it is late right now. I still have to install the drivers. They come in this massive 620MB ISO file that you have to mount as a drive. I'll be running it on the BIOS mod, though it could also be run on the dump.

For now, I have no new information. This thread is going to be very informational when we get this thing flashed though!

No worries! We can re-enable the protections after we flash the BIOS mod. You will be exposed to no extra risk!

Removing these protections allows us to flash the BIOS mod via software (like FPT). Technically, a hardware flash (ie: via the CH341A hardware programmer) would not require removal of these protections. We are temporarily removing software locks that prevent you from flashing the BIOS. Then we will put them back immediately after flashing the BIOS mod.

I'm still working on verifying if FLOCKDN is implemented in your BIOS.

Steve i have just checked this PONOMA 5250 thing and this is NOT A ELECTRONIC DEVICE. There is no chip, no transistors ,no capacitors ,nothing on this thing.
This is only a plastic clip with some gold plated wires literally!!! Smile
I don't think i need to buy it as i can just use wires ! Or am i missing something ?
And i can make those female to female wires at home no problems. i have those female clips at home loads of them . i bought load wile ago when i was building few pc's and i have plenty left. Smile
Respect guys.

Cool, looking forward to getting this BIOS mod flashed! We are almost there.

The first step will be to get two BIOS dumps using the CH341A. AsProgrammer is a pretty good utility to start with. Here is a link to a tutorial that includes a download link: https://www.onetransistor.eu/2018/11/use...ndows.html

Before you get started with obtaining the BIOS dump, could you open up your machine, locate chips that you think are the BIOS chip, take a good picture of each, and upload them here or to mediafire? I just want to double check that your chip isn't 1.8v. Most don't seem to be, but the Asus ROG G513QY and similar machines seem to have these chips and require the 1.8v adapter.

Check out this page:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/113705681227?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1xYdXGkyTSnq0Mkgw-r8faQ22&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=113705681227&targetid=1262375642056&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1027744&poi=&campaignid=12875707346&mkgroupid=127864788648&rlsatarget=pla-1262375642056&abcId=9300535&merchantid=114767512&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv5uKBhD6ARIsAGv9a-xHZDtHx7lVYdJlIG54CFxt2hJMDrbvWxa7SZFLw3RPlqt-nfIGtjIaAqk2EALw_wcB

If you scroll in on the chip labeled "BIOS chip", you will notice that it is a non-removable black chip with 8 silver pins attaching it to the motherboard.
