I think I already said I'm fairly green ^-^;
What am I actually looking for in HxD?

Hello!

I decided not to create new topic - maybe somebody can help me with my question.

Is it possible to override default backlight PWM setting of lcd panel/intel graphics for this laptop v3-772g using bios mod or it is not BIOS related?

https://yadi.sk/d/Gv4tQaBFpKVGw this is default bios from acer.com for the laptop
https://yadi.sk/d/oiMtTmTBpKVfu - unpacked from exe

I suppose isflash.fd is the bios file itself.

Could you please take a look? Because this laptop has terrible screen flicker when brightness lower than 100% and 100% burns my eyes.

The default value is reported 200hz
Thanks!

Hm..there are no options of LCD PWM' settings in Advanced options? There are some combinations to increase and descrease brightness of lcd panel on Keybord.
Try to find it.

Try to find it.

I have found only option "backlight control" - there are 2 suboptions "PWM normal" and "PWM inverted". Nothing more regarding the frequency settings.

And yes, backlight brightness is controlled by keyboard, but when reduce brigthness by keyboard the LCD starts flickering, especially on gray colors and it terribly hurts eyes.

I used some utility for intel driver to adjust/override this setting in driver, but it is not working anymore as intel changed api in drivers.. This utility reports 200hz backlight PWM on default when for normal lcd it should be at least twice more.

https://yadi.sk/d/O5EEhrsgpKcBZ here it is - the utility - it seems like c++ injection to driver or something.. Maybe it helps to find the corresponding setting .  Unfortunately it is not working properly under win 10..

What is your OS?Did you downgrade to old version to solve problem?
I advise to check LCD cable and LCD panel. Can you plug external monitor to VGA-out or HDMI ?
I change LCD and compare result in same cause.

Currently i am running win10. Laptop came with win 8. There were a lot of updates - 8.1, 8,1 with update, then system upgraded to win 10 - the update completely destroyed the system, so i had to reinstall it, after a while the hdd died, so i installed clean win7pro

I tried the utility on freshly installed win7 with some intel driver version - it worked and adjusted PWM to 1000hz and it was ok, but for some reasons (mostly work related) i had to install win 10pro and was unable to set backlight with this utility - i suppose due to new drivers.

Then i tried to roll back to win7/8 intel driver which was working with utility and it always causes failure to install or blue screen =/

I hoped for some solution overriding bios.

I am able to connect via hdmi and VGA - and external panel woks fine without flicker. I will try again now.

Upd. - Connected TV and external monitor - they work fine, no flicker. Brightness control works only for laptop lcd and doesnt affect external panel.

Laptop with 100% brightness is ok, i seems it is not using PWM setting on 100% brightness, but  less than max and more than min brightness gives flicker(
