Okay then, and well, everything seemed fine so far. The fan works normally, not sure about the ethernet though. I don't have the cable to test it. Just the extra time it takes to POST is the most obvious one. Will let you know the results from FPT.

So, the result is, when I tried dumping ME. There's error 26, the host cpu doesn't have access to it. Same goes for when I tried dumping SPI, but the SPI dumping works on FPTw though.

Correction: Nope, SPI and ME dumping doesn't work in both DOS and Windows. Same error 26.

Test LAN when you can, good to see FD and GBE at least, this means maybe ME FW is still there and it's just corrupted, hard to tell for sure without being able to dump it or get a complete BIOS dump (8MB).

Your Ethernet is probably not be working, unless it's not Intel Gigabit LAN, if it's just Fast Ethernet then possibly LAN MAC ID is stored within BIOS and they may have corrected that at least when fixing for you (doubtful though). But, LAN MAC ID in GbE region (For Intel Gigabit LAN) is currently set to the default placeholder ID 88 88 88 88 87 88. You can confirm if this is affecting you by trying to connect via Ethernet cable, or check IPCONFIG /All and see if there is a proper MAC ID shown or just the 88 88 88 88 87 88
and this is not for wireless so any wireless ID you see you can ignore.

That may be normal error 26, since ME region is set to not allow read/write. Can you run MEInfowin.exe -verbose or MEInfo.exe -verbose from DOS and get any output? If yes, show me.

So, after testing the ethernet. It works fine. Anyway, here's the result of using MEInfo.

Good Ethernet is working, so then LAN MAC ID must be stored in chip and there is no Intel Gigabit LAN so GbE not used, must just be "Fast Ethernet" Looks like some ME FW is there, but not correct one or not correct PCH SKU set when settings were put in during it's FW setup. Only way to know is dump it with programmer, and that's going to be the only way to fix it anyway

Oh well, I guess ordering a programmer will be great then. I will try to talk about it to my dad, not sure he will let me get the programmer though. Hopefully I can. Since he also thought that me listening to people from the internet for bios flashing help will be a scam. Not sure why though, but that's one of the main reasons he's not letting me. But thanks for your help though, will return to you once I get the tools.

If you would have ordered programmer first then problem would have been solved long ago and much cheaper. Very sorry he thinks it's all scams on the internet, how is anything a scam when no one is charging any $$? Tell him I help people unlock BIOS all day every day for free, not everything is always possible, but in many instances a lot is possible and I do it for free. Yes, sometimes things go wrong, but luckily the tools to fix any and all BIOS issues only costs less than $6-7 total shipped

Well, turns out, he still wasn't convinced after I tried talking about it to him. So I think my bios modding has to end there for this laptop. Hopefully I can do it later when I get another laptop, I'm sure it will definitely be when I don't have to ask him for tools. Get another laptop, you can fix this one for less than $7 ??? Give one of your friends $7 and have them order for you, no reason to let this system sit unused, fake dead, when you can easily fix it.

Actually, the laptop is still fine. Just the mentioned extra 15 seconds of bios POST time. A little annoying, but I got over it. And well, I apparently don't have anyone who can do that for me. Sorry, I forgot what happened, and thought it was bricked, that's why I was so confused on why he didn't want to get it for you. Sounds like messed up ME FW, but I'd have to look back to be sure what we decided caused it etc. So now I can see why maybe he didn't want to spend another $7, but wow, to put up with a startup delay like that and think something you purchase online at a normal store is a scam is still beyond belief

You'll have to save up until you have $10 and by one of those Visa Gift cards from gas station or drug store, then you can order from ebay
