[REQUEST] Asus IPIBL-LA 45-nm CPU support
#41
Flashed IPIBL-LB 5.43 bios and installed Q9500 CPU.
Everything works fine, ethernet too.
Some issues with usb ports. Maybe different chipset. I'll try to resolve it
Thanks

Were you able to resolve the issues?  I found an old discarded HP using an IPIBL-LA v1.04 board with v5.08 BIOS. The PSU was bad - which is probably why it got tossed - but I've got it up and running with a new PSU and a spare SSD I had lying around. I'm tempted to flash it just to see if I can get it to work and then pick up a Q9550 or something on eBay for cheap.

Would I flash this with afudos via a DOS USB drive similar to how the IPIBL-LB BIOS mod is performed?

Well... like an idiot I pulled the trigger and just did it.  It went about as badly as it possibly could have.  My apartment didn't burn down but the machine no longer POSTs.  I just get a blank screen from the video card initializing (an 8600GT FWIW) but that's it. Edit: Also tried pulling the GPU out and using the onboard VGA port, but the result is the same.

In hindsight I should have probably looked at the files in a hex editor or something before blindly flashing it... but I was just SO EXCITED.

I was hoping that this would be a fun little project but it seems that I'm just going to quietly put this machine back where I found it next to the trash dumpster...

You can try to recover like described here
https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/...-recovery/

Use this bios file, it's 5.13 IPIBL-LA renamed

@kubetts
WOW thank you for responding -- and super quickly no less.  I assumed that a basic board like this wouldn't have any BIOS recovery options so I didn't even look and wasn't expecting anyone to proactively try to help me with it.

I'll have to try this tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks again!  I'll report back on whether it worked or not.

Well, this didn't work although I don't have a PS/2 keyboard like the recovery instructions suggest.  I'll have to see if I can dig one up.  Even if I get one I'm not super hopeful that this will work.

Question
Hello, I have Asus IPIBL-LA Motherboard (775 Socket - G33 Chipset) with 5.13 BIOS (latest version). It supports 65nm CPU. I want to use this motherboard with Xeon E5450 (45nm) or Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 (45nm). Can anyone modding this bios ?

Solved! Just reset the bios (clear cmos with the jumper) and the ethernet adapter is working again!!!
