Hi, are there some news out there about a modded BIOS for the GL702ZC Laptop? Is it possible to use newer ryzen CPU´s in this Laptop?

I know this threat is old, but by any change anyone knows the location of the bios chip on the motherboard.
So far the only one i found is a Winbond 25X40CLNIG but this is only 4Mbit capacity.

@knopix

25X40CLNIG is only 512k,not 4m.
The bios size of this model is 16mb ,so you should search chip name like 25x128xxx in the motherboard ,it usually near the battery or south bridge(intel platform). It may not a sop8 package ,so you could assume it may a sop16 or wson8 package.

I can't find a clear and large picture for motherboard on the internet ,so i can't assist to search.

Good luck.

Thank you for the replay.
I found it on the other side of the motherboard. The chip is a MX25U12873F.
Winbond 25X40CLNIG is the GPU Bios.

Hmm i wonder if that option listed above would work when i have a moment i will backup my current bios and give it a try and see if the bios will install correctly.

Dug up my SPI programmer today going to pull a new backup of my modded bios and will test cross flashing a asrock bios for the smallest a/b mobo to the laptop and see if I can win some 3rd or 4th gen cpu support only issue is I am not seeing any 5800 non x cpus anywhere so I am thinking I mite try a 5600x. But was also thinking about a 5700g but as the mobo already has a gpu on it I am not sure if a apu would cause issues. Also to be clear the modded bios i have on it now is not perfect as the laptop FAN control got a little Janky after that upgrade it works but is far from perfect if that stays the same or gets better I am fine with it. at this point is more about doing it rather then a daily driver laptop as the support for ASUS has been down right lame. Well i am doing this does any one want me to get some shot of the mobo and how to get it out as you do not need to take the cooling off it the program the bios with the spi programmer.

Exciting stuff! Fingers crossed for 5600x support Smile .

The BIOS chip is on the backside of the mainboard. You have to put the mainboard out to flash it with a SPI programmer. As knopix wrote, the chip is a MX25U12873F with 16MB capacity.

this is very exciting, 3rd or 4th CPU I'm already contented on that hehe
