Hi Modders,

I am trying to figure out how to unlock SATA III (Gen3, SATA 6Gbps) on Port 0 for the Asus K53E series laptop. It has the HM65 chipset which according to Intel documentation supports SATA Gen3 on Port 0 and I have confirmed that is where the hard disk drive is connected.

The hard drive I am using is WD Cav Black 500GB (WD5000BEKT) and it scored 7.2 in Windows Rating on a three year old Gateway laptop (NV53). On this "new" laptop, it scores 5.9. I have noted that it is running SATA 3Gbps, according to Intel tools and SiSoft Sandra tool.

I have opened the BIOS file with AMIBCP v4.53 and changed the SATA Port 0 configuration to Gen3, and the Accoustic settings to Performance, etc. but can't figure out how to make them appear in the menu so I can actually see and change them myself. Even after making these changes, flashing with the modified file, and shutting down to power off state and powering on the system, the tools show that it is still running the port at SATA 3Gbps.

Thanks in advance for tips,

Daniel

All you need to do is have Winflash installed and launch it through Command Prompt, Command Prompt can be found under Start Menu under Accessories.
Now in Command Prompt navigate to where you have Winflash installed, for me I just entered " cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\WinFlash " with out the "".
Now simply enter "Winflash /nodate" without the "" and then select your desired bios file, ignore the warning about it being an older version and press Flash. All done

You dont have to setting nothing, is automatic to 512mb.

Post results.

Hey guys, i recently started playing with bios, and i have half-unlocked the ami bios for the asus k53e. I was able to unlock all features in the advanced settings, but i cannot even get the tab for the chipset settings which go figure, are the ones i personally wanted.

I had to change access to supervisor instead of default for all access items, and made some adjustments like dedicated graphics memory, but most of my changes aren't working due to not being able to access chipset settings.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get this chipset settings tab to show up?
For reference im using amibcp with winflash because ezflash says build date is old.

Any help is appreciated.

If there is any interest im this current modded 221 bios let me know as it can have everything under advanced tab such as turbo adjustments and temperature/fan control settings.

Hi friend,
your is an AMI Aptio Bios so use this guide :

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...MSR-unlock!

Follow CodeRush suggestions :

It's certanly not so easy for BIOSes with another menu setup, but the whole idea is the same.
I could also recommend trying AMIBCP to modify menu entries vilibility from "Default" to "USER",
if your menu setup is more complex then a setup above.

And reflash using CodeRush suggestions :

I have had to flash my Bios image from a CLI with Admin Rights (administrator commandline) using
afuwinx64 bios_mod.rom /GAN     . . .
Otherwise Windows did give me a security error (Thanks again CodeRush)

I think You have all to unlock your Bios!
