[REQUEST] Compaq Presario C700 BIOS Unlock

I have a request for wifi modifcation on this board, but since this seems to be the place to ask anything and all things BIOS, I'll give this a shot.

My Compaq C762NR came with a dual core pentium 1.73 Ghz processor. I changed it out for a t7200 2.0ghz C2D which supports VT-X. Naturally, the original processor did not and I believe HP never had any intentions to support that feature of chips that it put in its CTO line of Compaq C700 (or HP DVxxx?) laptops. The BIOS is pretty basic and certainly does not address VT-X for reasons I have suggested.

I have long been intrigued by marcan's work over at http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/enabl...ire-8930g/ for Acer laptops with similarly locked down BIOSes. Since my model is somewhat in HP's CTO category and I can even slap a t8400 in here, it begs the question of where the VT-X feature and its lock bit are mentioned in the bios itself.

I spoke with marcan and, upon intial inspection, he looked and seemed to think it was actually in the BIOS code itself and not accessible for modular modification-unlike Acer's Insyde implementation. I propose to the admins of this forum to investigate enabling VT-X for all c700 CTO machines for users looking to get the most fo their CPU upgrades.

Insyde is tricky business for sure, but I'll see if I cant find anything out. (I do the award/AMI msotly, but I have connections)

with my humble request of helping me unlock my bios, i cant seems to have vt-x enable when i use vm, it comes with a celeron 540 but i have managed to changed it to Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T7300 with current memmory og 3gb with bios version : F.35 located at

That bios does not update BIOS SETUP, we should mod sp41279 and then update again to sp48079. We can try if you want.

Please someone can help me unlocking advanced settings on this BIOS, i tried the combination of F10+A and flashing some bios modded here in this forum but nothing happens, please help me i need to unlock this.

I'm from Spain and It's my first post here, I think that it will be very usefull...

I have a "Compaq Presario C742ES Notebook PC" (GZ890EA), That uses an "Insyde H2O Bios Rev. 3.0". And i was taking a lot of information to have working the advanced options on his "Inside H2O Bios"...

First of all, I test the "A+F10", "A+1+F10", "A+1+Win+F10" and other crazy combinations of buttons but don't worked anyone...

And I see that all models of "C700" use the "sp48079" Bios :: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48079.exe
In that Post one Super Moderator says that it can't be modded because it don't upgrade BIOS SETUP...
