[REQUEST] Compaq Presario CQ56-100 (AMD) Series Whitelist Removal
#1
Please forgive me, if this is the wrong place for this request. I am trying to use a Intel 6200 Advanced N card on my Compaq laptop. I know it uses the Inyside Bios on it. I have backed up my bios to a .rom file. Would it be possible to get rid of the whitelist? Thanks

Here is the location of the file here

THis is my current hardware ID's for my AR9285

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_3040103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_3040103C
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_0280

i cannot do it, the method is not 100% safe.

Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52913.exe

BIOS Type: Insyde

Original vendor ID: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_3040103C&REV_01

A total removal of the whitelist would be appreciated. Let me know if this can't be done.

I am aware of the risks, down with whitelists!!! Big Grin

WORKS...sort of

Removed the old Atheros card, put in an Intel WiFi 5100, and got no "unsupported wireless device" on startup, and works well in Win7.

Many thanks! Donation coming tomorrow when I get paid lol

EDIT - Weird BIOS behavior though...when the unit starts, there is a "Press ESC for boot menu..." when I hit ESC, it says "Boot sequence paused" but instead goes straight to boot as if I never pressed the key. Any chance that section of code got commented out?

Same result as the last one. The text on the splash screen knows I have pressed ESC as it says "Pausing startup" but it never actually presents me with a boot selection screen. Instead it just continues straight to startup.

Hello, I'm also looking for a way to remove the whitelist from the BIOS for Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX , Processor - AMD V140 2.30GHz , Model No. CQ56-115DX.
BIOS http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52913.exe.

I saw you've made some for another member but it looks like the new BIOS didn't recognize the keyboard which is important to me since i need to enter the boot options/selection and or other BIOS options. Would you please give it another try I really need to change the pre-installed wifi card. Thank you for your help

I know this is old, but any progress on this would be greatly appreciated. Heck if someone could send me a link to Andy's Tools so I could work with my BIOS myself I'd appreciate it. I can't seem to find the tools anywhere (BTW, the link in the modding tools section doesn't work). I have an Intel 7620AC I want to install, but unfortunately, I can't.
